This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient underwriting operations by coordinating broker communications, supporting quote and bind processes, and ensuring policy documentation accuracy.Working closely with underwriters, the Casualty Underwriting Assistant will help manage the submission lifecycle from initial triage through binding and policy servicing, while maintaining strong relationships with wholesale brokers. This role requires strong attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced MGA environment.The ideal candidate will have experience supporting commercial underwriting teams, with familiarity across both Primary and Excess casualty lines of business.Key ResponsibilitiesReview incoming submissions and assist underwriters by requesting additional underwriting information from brokers, organizing documentation, and maintaining accurate submission records.Conduct outbound follow-ups with brokers regarding underwriting requests, quote status updates, and outstanding submission requirements.Track quoted accounts and proactively follow up with brokers to determine binding intent, gather feedback, and communicate results to underwriting leadership.Assist with the binding process by confirming required subjectivities are satisfied, verifying bound terms match quoted terms, issuing binders, and maintaining internal bind logs.Review issued policies for accuracy before distribution, ensuring terms, endorsements, and underwriting details match the bound quote.Review mid-term endorsement requests, coordinate with underwriters to determine appropriate action, and assist with processing instructions for policy servicing teams.Assist underwriting team in identifying submissions outside appetite and coordinating declination communication to brokers.Serve as a liaison between underwriting, operations, and policy servicing teams to ensure efficient processing and service standards.Participate in broker meetings and marketing calls with underwriters to support relationship management and submission flow.Collaborate with internal teams to identify workflow improvements and technology enhancements that streamline underwriting operations.Ensure adherence to state-specific regulatory requirements, carrier guidelines, and E&S compliance standards. Preferred QualificationsTwo (2) to five (5) years of multi-line commercial insurance experience, ideally within a carrier environment.Exposure to commercial casualty lines.Familiarity with the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market is highly preferred.Strong communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.Strong attention to detail with the ability to review policy documents, endorsements, and underwriting materials for accuracy.Proficiency with common insurance technology platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
