Apply & track with Apply EdgeTo lead and manage underwriting operations across all non-motor lines of general insurance business by assessing risk exposures, ensuring profitable portfolio growth, maintaining underwriting discipline, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company underwriting guidelines.Underwrite and manage risks across Property, Engineering, Marine, Liability, and Financial Lines portfolios.Assess risk submissions, financials, claims history, survey reports, and underwriting exposures to determine acceptance, pricing, terms, and coverage.Approve risks within delegated authority and refer complex or high-value cases to senior management or reinsurers.Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, loss ratios, retention, and risk accumulations, implementing corrective actions where required.Develop and maintain sound underwriting and pricing strategies aligned with business objectives and market conditions.Manage facultative reinsurance placements and maintain effective relationships with reinsurers and brokers.Support treaty renewals, reinsurance submissions, and compliance with treaty guidelines.Review risk surveys and recommend risk-improvement and loss-prevention measures.Evaluate catastrophe exposures and ensure effective portfolio risk diversification.Collaborate with brokers, clients, and sales teams to drive profitable growth and retention.Provide technical underwriting support for business development, product enhancement, and market expansion initiatives.Ensure accurate policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and maintenance of underwriting documentation.Support complex claims assessment by analyzing claims trends and providing underwriting expertise.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, audit standards, and risk management frameworks.Lead, coach, and develop underwriting team members while promoting underwriting excellence and best practices.Pre-requisiteBachelor's Degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Commerce, or related field.Professional insurance qualifications preferred:ACII / FCIICPCU & ANZIIF8-15 years of experience in General Insurance underwriting.Minimum 5 years of experience managing non-motor underwriting portfolios.Experience across multiple commercial and corporate insurance classes.Excellent communication skills, both written and English
