User ResearcherPermanentLocation: UK - RemoteSalary: £50,000 - £55,000 (+ benefits)Skills: User Research, UX Research, Qualitative Research, User-Centred Design, GDS / Government Digital ServicesWe are looking for an SC Cleared User Researcher to join a digital consultancy delivering user-centred services across UK Government and the wider public sector.This role would suit someone who is naturally curious, confident engaging with both users and stakeholders, and keen to influence the wider service rather than simply produce research reports.You'll plan and deliver research throughout the service lifecycle, helping multidisciplinary teams understand user needs, behaviours and motivations and turn those insights into evidence-based decisions.Due to the nature of the work valid SC Cleared is required.What you'll be doingPlanning and delivering qualitative user research across digital servicesSelecting appropriate research methods based on user and service needsConducting interviews, usability testing, contextual research and other research activitiesAnalysing findings and translating them into clear, actionable insightsCommunicating research effectively to designers, developers, analysts and stakeholdersFacilitating workshops and collaborative sessionsWorking closely with Interaction Designers, Content Designers and Service DesignersEnsuring user needs remain central throughout discovery, design and deliveryHelping teams identify assumptions, validate ideas and make evidence-based decisionsContributing to the wider design and improvement of end-to-end servicesWhat we're looking forStrong professional experience within User Research / UX ResearchExcellent qualitative research skillsExperience independently planning and facilitating researchStrong interviewing, usability testing and research analysis capabilityAbility to communicate complex findings clearly and conciselyConfidence presenting insights and recommendations to stakeholdersExperience working within multidisciplinary delivery teamsStrong understanding of user-centred design principlesComfortable facilitating workshops and collaborative sessionsInterest in wider service design and experience improvementHighly desirablePrevious experience delivering research within UK Government or the wider public sectorExperience working within GDS / Government Digital Service environmentsUnderstanding of the Government Service Standard and service assessmentsExperience conducting research across discovery, alpha, beta and live servicesExperience researching with users who have accessibility or assisted-digital needsPrevious consultancy or client-facing experience
