Apply & track with Apply EdgePE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Validation Engineer to join our engineering client based in Stafford. The role is an initial 12-month contract with the likelihood of extension, and the rate for this role is up to £35.00 p/hour PAYE or £47.50 Umbrella p/hour.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver end-to-end engineering verification and validation activities for diesel engine products.Evaluate diesel engine performance and assess overall engine health.Develop and manage component and system validation plans, including test procedures, test cycles, instrumentation requirements, boundary conditions and acceptance criteria.Coordinate day-to-day engineering, testing and data analysis activities.Analyse test data and trends to identify product issues and opportunities for improvement.Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations using recognised methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC or Six Sigma.Evaluate corrective actions and verify their effectiveness through further testing and analysis.Produce clear, accurate and data-driven technical reports and engineering recommendations.Support design activities through FMEA and collaboration with design teams.Work closely with test, manufacturing, supplier and global Caterpillar teams.Contribute to the development of validation methodologies, including accelerated testing for upcoming power density and emissions projects.Ensure all engineering activities are completed in line with relevant quality, safety and compliance standards.Occasional overseas travel may be required depending on business needs.RequirementsDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent engineering experience.Minimum 3 years' experience in product validation, verification, testing or development engineering.Practical experience in engine robustness evaluation and/or engineering validation.Experience creating validation plans, test procedures and technical reports.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting and analysing engineering test data.Experience with root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, DEMDI or Six Sigma.Understanding of engineering verification and validation processes.Experience validating product performance against technical or product objectives.Experience with diesel engine components and systems such as cooling, lubrication and air systems is highly desirable.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to different audiences.Strong Microsoft Office skills and technical reporting ability.Familiarity with FMEA and DVP&R tools.Experience with high-speed data acquisition and instrumentation systems would be advantageous.Knowledge of CAN-based data acquisition tools such as CANape would be desirable.Experience in diesel engines, automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, power generation or other complex engineering environments would be considered.Experience with tools such as Plato, E1NS or Farevo would be advantageous.Working Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:30 and Friday 08:00–13:00, 37 hours per week.Working Arrangement: This is a fully onsite role in Stafford. Flexible working may be considered where required by the business, but regular remote working arrangements are not currently supported.Please note PE Global cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
