However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV). OverviewResponsible for the safe navigation and safe conduct of the USV.Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe USV Master has the ultimate and overriding authority and the responsibility to make decisions, with respect to safety and pollution prevention and to request the Company’s assistance as necessary. The USV Master / Pilot must ensure that the USV is operated within the confines of XOCEANs Business Processes (Management System) at all times.Responsibilities include:Carrying out duties to ensure the safe navigation of the USV at all times.Communicating clearly with the Marine and XOCEAN Operating Centre teamsPreparing and assisting in the completion of relevant documentation within the management systems.Ensuring that all USV equipment is fully functional and report any defects immediately.Maintaining the USV official logbooks correctly.Monitoring and reporting on all weather systems for the operation.Planning, preparing Passage planning for to USVs.Updating navigational charts and digital publications.Assisting with the assessment and implementation of survey routes and monitoring the quality of data being collected during survey operations (training will be given).Has overall responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all personnel directly involved with the physical operations of the USV.Promoting a positive health and safety culture within the organisation.Reviewing & developing Operational Risk Assessments and ensuring that they have appropriate and sufficient mitigations.Any other duties as required by the Marine Superintendent / Deputy. Health, Safety & EnvironmentThe USV Master will:Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental protocols.Fully commit to preventing any damage to the environment.Comply with the XOCEAN management of risk and ensure that Risk Assessments are carried out for all tasks.Participate in the HSE safety observation programme.Comply with XOCEAN’s Lifesaving Rules.Ensure that worksites are safe, and tools are maintained in a satisfactory condition.Comply with XOCEAN’s Environmental, Health and Safety Policies.Requirements: Essential Skills – Experience – Attributes Minimum of an STCW Master 200T (UK - Code vessel) with unlimited area of operations. Differing levels of certification/limitation may be considered.If not currently holding an MCA CoC, the ability to readily get one.Valid STCW courses (First Aid, PSSR, PST FP/FF)Medical certificateRadar training certificate.VHF Radio Certificate – ROC or GOCStability course/trainingHave strong knowledge of collision regulations and sea going experience.Strong computer literacy.Enthusiastic, positive & proactive.Full clean driver’s license.Willingness to occasionally attend in person, the XOCEAN Head office or Technical Centre, for piloting duties.Desirable ExperienceHeld a similar position in a similar role.Have a willingness to learn new processes and procedures in the evolving Remote / MASS industry.Experience in offshore Surveying operations.Ability to secure an MCA certificate where this is not already held.ApplyApplicants must demonstrate how they meet the essential criteria.
