VFX Artist (Unity)

Role Overview:As a Game VFX Artist, you will be responsible for designing, creating real-time visual effects for weapons, characters, environments, vehicles, UI and gameplay events in Unity. You will work closely with the Art, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver visually compelling effects that match the artistic vision of ScarFall 2.0 while meeting technical and performance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality real-time VFX for gameplay
• Implement and polish VFX inside Unity using the Particle System (VFX Shader Graph not preferred)
• Create optimized sprite sheets, flipbooks, textures, masks, gradients, and materials for real-time effects.
• Develop stylized and realistic VFX that align with the game's visual direction.
• Optimize effects for mobile devices while maintaining visual quality.
• Collaborate with designers, animators, and programmers to ensure effects clearly communicate gameplay.
• Optimize VFX for mobile platforms by managing particle count, overdraw, texture usage, and shader performance.
• Iterate on effects based on gameplay feedback and artistic direction.
• Maintain organized project files and reusable VFX assets.

Required Skills

• 1–2 years of experience in Game VFX.
• Freshers with a strong Game VFX portfolio are encouraged to apply.
• Good understanding of Unity Particle System.
• Good knowledge of Unity Shader Graph.
• Basic knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, and animation.
• Strong sense of timing, motion, color, composition, and visual readability.
• Experience creating sprite sheets, flipbook animations, textures, and materials.
• Knowledge of Photoshop or similar image editing software.
• Understanding of mobile game optimization.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
• Preferred QualificationsExperience shipping or contributing to a mobile game.
• Familiarity with VFX optimization techniques.
• Scripting knowledge of HLSL is a plus.
• Experience creating 2D animated effects for stickers and UI is a plus.
• Passion for FPS, Battle Royale, or multiplayer games.
• Portfolio RequirementPlease include:A portfolio or demo reel showcasing your real-time Game VFX work.
• Unity implementation examples (preferred).
• Brief breakdowns of selected effects, including your workflow and optimization approach.
