Vice President of Procurement

JOB SUMMARY: The VP of Procurement is responsible for leading and directing all purchasing and sourcing activity across the company, including chemicals, raw material, packaging, personal protective equipment procurement, toll blending and third-party manufacturing relationships, indirect and services procurement, and purchasing. Reporting to the COO, this role sets procurement strategy, builds and leads the procurement organization, owns supplier and vendor relationships at the enterprise level, and partners with Operations, Sales, and Finance to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant supply of materials and services company-wide. The VP acts as the senior escalation point for supplier performance, cost, and continuity issues, and is accountable for the performance of the Director of Chemical Purchasing, the Supply Chain Partner, and the broader purchasing/inventory team.EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, , or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.EXPERIENCE:Required: 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a purchasing or procurement team.Preferred: Experience in chemical manufacturing or process manufacturing environments; prior experience overseeing toll blending, contract manufacturing, or third-party supplier networks; experience supporting capital project sourcing.POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/CertificationRequired: Demonstrated strategic sourcing and negotiation skills; strong financial acumen including budgeting, cost modeling, and total-cost-of-ownership analysis; proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a multi-level procurement team; ; excellent executive communication, cross-functional collaboration, and presentation skills; ability to travel domestically up to 25%.Preferred: Professional certification such as CPSM, CPM, or CSCP; knowledge of chemical blending, regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT), and hazardous materials handling; experience with supplier risk management and business continuity planning.CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions)Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and execute company-wide procurement and sourcing strategy aligned with business, cost, and growth objectives.Build, lead, and develop the procurement organization, including the Director of Chemical Purchasing, Supply Chain Partner, and purchasing staff across all facilities.Set departmental goals, budgets, and performance metrics; report procurement performance, cost savings, and supply risk to executive leadership.Establish and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls, including approval authority and contract management standards.Sourcing & Supplier ManagementOwn enterprise-wide vendor and supplier relationships for PPE, raw materials, chemicals, packaging, toll blending/contract manufacturing, capital equipment, and indirect goods and services.Lead negotiation of pricing, contract terms, and service agreements with strategic and high-spend suppliers.Oversee supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and audits to ensure quality, safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.Serve as the executive escalation point for supplier performance, quality, or delivery issues that cannot be resolved at the team level.Identify and develop alternate sourcing and competitive substitutions to mitigate supply risk and support market shifts.Operational OversightProvide oversight of purchase order lifecycle management and purchasing reporting across all facilities.Ensure accurate, timely procurement of materials and services to support uninterrupted operations at all sites, including customer locations.Partner with Finance/Accounts Payable to resolve invoice, pricing, and reconciliation discrepancies at an escalated level.Support large capital project sourcing on behalf of the organization, acting as primary sourcing agent where needed.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Sales, Operations, Technology, and Customer Care leadership to align sourcing and inventory strategies with business needs and demand forecasts.Provide executive-level visibility into cost, lead time, vendor capacity, and supply risk to inform business decisions.Represent procurement in company leadership meetings and strategic planning.Other duties and special projects as assigned.
