VP of Purchasing *Candidates need to be out of foodservice distribution*Northwest IllinoisA well-established and growing foodservice distribution company is looking for an experienced VP of Purchasing to lead its purchasing and procurement organization.This is a key leadership position responsible for developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, improving profitability, and leading a team that supports the company’s overall growth and customer service objectives.What You’ll Be Responsible ForLead and develop the purchasing/procurement team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance managementDevelop and execute purchasing strategies that improve margins, service levels, and overall profitabilityNegotiate pricing, programs, rebates, and other agreements with suppliers and manufacturersManage inventory levels to balance product availability, working capital, and profitabilityIdentify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, vendor performance, and overall department efficiencyPartner closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and senior leadershipSupport major customer opportunities through pricing analysis, product selection, and strategic purchasing initiativesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendorsHelp identify new products, suppliers, and opportunities to expand the company's product offeringsMonitor purchasing performance, expenses, inventory, and other key financial metricsLead initiatives designed to increase supplier participation and improve company profitabilityEnsure purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulationsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor's degree preferred10+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experienceStrong leadership and team management experienceExperience within foodservice distribution, food distribution, grocery distribution, or a similar environmentStrong knowledge of vendor negotiations, purchasing strategy, inventory management, and supplier programsDemonstrated ability to impact margins and overall financial performanceStrong analytical, communication, and negotiation skillsAbility to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teamsWhy Consider This Opportunity?Senior leadership position with significant impact on the businessOpportunity to lead and grow an established purchasing organizationStrong company culture and long-term career opportunityCompetitive compensation and bonus potentialRelocation assistance available for the right candidateInterested?
