Research and Interpretation• Develop a detailed understanding of the collections, artworks, installations and narratives across JGU museums.• Study exhibition texts, archival materials and research sources to ensure factual accuracy.• Translate complex subjects into clear, engaging and accessible narratives for different audiences.• Prepare and refine tour narratives, interpretive notes, talking points and FAQs.• Stay informed about relevant historical, constitutional, cultural, institutional and contemporary contexts.2. Guided Experiences and Visitor Engagement• Conduct engaging and well-structured guided experiences across museums and signature spaces.• Present museum narratives with clarity, confidence and strong subject knowledge.• Explain exhibits, artworks, installations and historical contexts in engaging ways.• Adapt the depth, language and pace of tours to different audiences.• Respond accurately to visitor questions and connect exhibits to the wider museum narrative.• Contribute ideas for new tours, thematic experiences and visitor engagement initiatives.3. Interpretive Content and Learning• Develop and review visitor-facing and educational content for different audiences.• Prepare and refine museum guides, tour scripts, quizzes, worksheets and learning resources.• Support programmes and content for schools, universities and specialist groups.• Assist in developing digital, multimedia and interactive content for visitor engagement.4. Museum Operations• Support the day-to-day functioning of assigned museums and ensure visitor areas are ready.• Conduct routine checks of exhibits, installations, screens, interactive systems and AV equipment.• Identify and report technical, maintenance, housekeeping and operational issues.• Support tour bookings, visitor schedules, group movement and attendance.• Coordinate with relevant University offices on itineraries, timings, protocols and visitor requirements.• Assist with museum retail operations and related records as required.5. Events and Special Visits• Support the planning and execution of museum events, programmes, workshops and special visits.• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for scheduled visits.• Assist with visitor movement, group coordination and on-ground arrangements during events.6. Documentation and Reporting• Maintain accurate records of tours, visitors, bookings, events and museum programmes.• Assist in preparing reports on visitor numbers, programmes, feedback and operations.• Record recurring visitor questions and observations to improve future interpretation.• Maintain tour resources and interpretive materials in an organised manner.• Handle routine communication related to museum visits and programmes.• Support other research, interpretive, administrative and operational responsibilities as required.Skills & Attributes• Strong public speaking, presentation and storytelling skills.• Ability to understand and explain complex historical, cultural, constitutional and institutional subjects clearly.• Confidence in addressing both small groups and large audiences.• Ability to engage with students, academics, families, professionals and distinguished visitors.• Strong listening, communication and interpersonal skills.• High standards of factual accuracy and attention to detail.• Ability to develop and retain strong knowledge of substantial museum content.• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.• Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods while conducting museum tours.Work ScheduleThe museums and facilities under the Office are open seven days a week.The role follows a rotating work schedule, with weekly offs generally falling on weekdays. Working on weekends is a regular part of the role.Timings may occasionally change depending on museum programmes, special visits, events or other institutional requirements.
