About the OpportunityOur client, a middle-market private equity manager investing across the industrial, consumer, and manufacturing sectors, is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to support the Controller in managing the accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions of the management company. Launched in the mid-2000s with $80 million, the firm has grown to approximately $6 billion in assets under management and has raised two funds in the past two years — a flagship buyout vehicle and a credit strategy — with an additional fund currently in market. This role is well suited to a detail-oriented accounting professional seeking exposure to private equity fund operations, management company accounting, and cross-functional work spanning tax, compensation administration, and deal support. The Senior Accounting Associate will work closely with the Corporate Controller, an experienced mentor, and coordinate with the firm's external tax advisors and other internal stakeholders. The environment is notably collaborative, with regular firmwide events and exceptionally low turnover — much of the team has been with the firm seven or more years — alongside a reasonable and predictable work schedule. This position is based in Greenwich, Connecticut and requires four days per week in-office.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist the Controller with day-to-day management company accounting, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processesSupport preparation of management company financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, including variance analysisMaintain and reconcile intercompany allocations and expense-sharing arrangements among management company entitiesAssist with payroll-adjacent and compensation administration tasks, including preparation of compensation statements and support for benefits and retirement plan administrationSupport tax compliance workstreams in coordination with external tax advisors, including gathering supporting schedules and documentation for partnership tax filings, PTET, and related state and local tax mattersPrepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal financial reviews and presentations to firm leadershipHelp maintain and improve desk procedures and internal controls documentation for management company accounting processesAssist with data extraction, reconciliation, and reporting using the firm's ERP system (NetSuite) and related toolsSupport systems implementations and other automation and AI-driven initiatives within the Accounting and Finance functionPerform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the ControllerJob RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field3–6 years of relevant accounting experience; background in private equity, financial services, or a professional services firm strongly preferredCPA or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred, but not requiredStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accountingExperience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExposure to partnership tax concepts (e.g., K-1s, PTET) is a plus, but not requiredExcellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsHigh degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential financial and compensation informationThe annual total compensation range is up to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
