Not a demo company - real revenue, real customers, and a category-leading position in a market being fundamentally disrupted by AI.They’re now hiring a VP of Platform Engineering to own the platform layer end-to-end - distributed systems, API design, cloud architecture, and production AI operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has scaled a platform through a major funding or growth transition and is ready to take full ownership at a profitable, fast-growing AI startup.ResponsibilitiesOwn the platform engineering function end-to-end - distributed systems, API design, cloud architecture, and production AI operationsScale the platform and infrastructure team through the company’s next growth stageLead and grow engineering teams while staying hands-on and technically crediblePartner with product and engineering leadership to align platform investments with business outcomesDrive AI-native engineering workflows across the team - daily, deep use of frontier AI tools as standard practiceRequirements10+ years of platform engineering experience with hands-on background in distributed systems, API design, and cloud architectureRecent startup experience (Series A-D) or rapid career progression to VP level at a reputable big tech companyExperience scaling a platform or infrastructure team through a funding transitionStrong TypeScript and/or PythonDaily, deep use of frontier AI tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor) in workflow - must haveBS in CS or STEM-related fieldMust be willing to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days/weekBackground in conversational AI, voice AI, FinTech, or regulated financial services a strong plusTech StackTypeScript, Python, Distributed Systems, Cloud Architecture, API Design, Production AI Operations, Agentic AI Systems$30M raised, cash-flow positive, 100+ enterprise clients, 10M+ users, and a category-leading AI platform in a regulated market.
