VSCode Extension Developer

Has to be local to New York City, Pennington, or Jersey City***W2 ONLY***Looking for Python Developer with 8-10 years experience with VS Code experience***We are seeking a Senior VS Code Extension Developer to support Quartz, Bank of America’s proprietary Global Markets framework used by approximately 7,000 developers across centralized risk and trading.This role will help advance the transition from a proprietary IDE to Visual Studio Code, developing and maintaining a custom extension that supports critical developer workflows. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on experience delivering production-grade VS Code extensions, can work independently, and can influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain the custom VS Code extension supporting Quartz developer workflows.
• Support the continued transition from proprietary IDE tooling to VS Code and Git-based development.
• Publish, version, and maintain VS Code extensions at scale.
• Solve complex IDE and developer-experience challenges, including workspace management and performance.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and deliver reliable tooling for a large developer community.Required Qualifications:
• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Visual Studio Code extension development.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade developer tools or IDE extensions used by a broad developer community.
• Experience publishing, versioning, and maintaining VS Code extensions at scale.
• Strong understanding of VS Code architecture and internals, including extension APIs, workspace management, and performance considerations.
• Strong programming proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and C#.
• Ability to operate independently, solve complex technical problems, and influence technical direction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Python experience.
• Experience contributing to production-level VS Code tooling or codebases.Financial services experience is not required.
