The role involves coordinating customs entries, managing relevant documentation, and supporting the seamless flow of goods through the customs clearance process. The Customs Coordinator / Rater plays an integral role in ensuring that all customs-related activities are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with international trade laws.Scope:This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day warehouse and overland transportation operations, ensuring cargo and shipments are handled safely, accurately and efficiently in line with customer requirements, company procedures and applicable legislation. The role will lead and support the assigned team, allocate daily activities, monitor performance and ensure operational tasks are completed on time and to the required standards. The Team Leader will also coordinate with customers, service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of operational issues.Responsibilities:Warehouse OperationsCoordinate warehouse operations from a 3PL perspective, ensuring cargo is received, stored, handled and dispatched in accordance with agreed SOPs and customer requirements.Ensure proper handling of different types of cargo, including General Cargo, DG, FMCG, Pharma and other customer specific requirements.Monitor warehouse documentation, stock movements and billing or charge verification to ensure accuracy.Coordinate with customers and service providers to ensure requests are completed on time and in line with agreed SOPs and KPIs.Overland TransportationCoordinate truck bookings based on customer and operational requirements and ensure timely follow-up.Monitor daily transportation activities and ensure jobs are completed as planned and in accordance with customer requirements.Verify transportation billing and charges and ensure supporting documentation is accurate and complete.Coordinate with customers, drivers and service providers to resolve operational issues and ensure timely service delivery.Team LeadershipLead and coordinate the assigned warehouse and transportation team to ensure daily operations are completed safely, accurately and on time.Plan and allocate daily work, monitor workload and ensure appropriate resources are available to meet operational requirements.Monitor team performance against agreed KPIs, SOPs and service standards and provide regular feedback to the Line Manager.Promote teamwork, accountability, safe working practices and compliance within the team.Support training and development of team members and ensure employees understand and follow relevant procedures.QHSE and ComplianceEnsure warehouse and transportation activities comply with applicable safety, security, environmental and company requirements.Promote safe working practices within the team and promptly escalate any safety, compliance or operational concerns.Ensure the team follows applicable SOPs, security measures and regulatory requirements.Qualifications/Experience:+3 years of experience in Warehouse and Overland Transportation operations, preferably within a 3PL environment.College/University graduate.Strong knowledge of warehousing, overland transportation, stock control, documentation and compliance.Previous team leadership experience with strong planning, coordination and problem-solving skills.Computer literacy with Microsoft Software applications, MS Excel expertise.
