Warehouse Chemist

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Warehouse Chemist to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient management of chemicals and dangerous goods within warehouse operations.Key Responsibilities• Receive, inspect, identify and classify chemicals and dangerous goods.• Verify incoming chemicals against purchase specifications and regulatory requirements.• Ensure correct chemical labelling, packaging, storage and segregation.• Assess chemical compatibility and required storage conditions.• Interpret and apply Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.• Conduct inspections of chemical storage areas, including ventilation, housekeeping and spill-prevention controls.• Identify expired, damaged or obsolete chemicals and coordinate their safe disposal.• Maintain accurate chemical inventory, inspection, permit and compliance records.• Conduct chemical risk assessments and recommend control measures.• Support spill response, incident investigations and corrective actions.• Provide chemical-safety guidance to warehouse employees and internal stakeholders.• Coordinate with Procurement, HSE, Logistics, end users and regulatory authorities.• Support internal and external compliance audits.Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory or a related scientific discipline.• Minimum four years of relevant experience.• Chemical Safety and Dangerous Goods Management training with a minimum duration of three months.• Strong knowledge of chemical properties, hazard classification and compatibility.• Practical experience interpreting Safety Data Sheets.• Knowledge of GHS, IATA DGR, IMDG Code, ADR and applicable local regulations.• Knowledge of hazardous-material storage, segregation, transportation and waste disposal.• Experience with warehouse operations and inventory-management systems.• Strong communication, documentation and coordination skills.
