Our aim is to develop students’ capacity to think creatively and rigorously, beyond preparation for any single examination or competition.Mathematical intuition is at the heart of the programme: understanding what concepts mean, why methods work, how ideas connect and what makes a result plausible. Tutors help pupils turn that intuition into precise mathematics—exploring examples, formulating conjectures, finding counterexamples and constructing proofs. Technical fluency supports this process rather than becoming an end in itself. We also develop the judgement needed to question and verify arguments.Teaching develops with the pupils. Younger groups explore puzzles, patterns and mathematical structures, learning to explain their discoveries. Pupils aged 11–12 begin writing organised solutions; those aged 13–15 deepen their conceptual understanding and proof skills. Older students undertake guided investigations, developing research skills and learning to communicate more substantial mathematical arguments.The core programme consists of small-group online lessons, with online one-to-one tuition also available. Twice each term, pupils meet in person for investigative mathematical tournaments. They investigate an unfamiliar problem, present their findings and participate in an age-appropriate mathematical discussion or viva. The emphasis is on insight, careful investigation, sound reasoning and the ability to explain and revise an argument—not simply speed or obtaining a final answer.We are looking for tutors who enjoy exploring mathematics with young people: asking productive questions, recognising promising partial ideas, challenging unsupported assumptions and helping pupils make discoveries without immediately supplying the method. Strong mathematical understanding, clear explanation and sensitivity to different levels of readiness are essential.The tutor’s role is to help pupils develop the intuition to see what might be true—and the rigour to establish whether it is.Contemporary Mathematics lessons are our specialisation, and we provide all teaching materials in advance for group lessons; tutors do not need to create their own resources for contemporary mathematics sessions. However, tutors are welcome to create their own materials for 1-2-1 teaching sessions, which may be on any topic related to mathematics.
