Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.About BravenBraven is a creative and digital marketing agency working with businesses, organizations, public-sector programs, and community partners.We design and build digital experiences that support real business goals — from websites and landing pages to campaigns, digital programs, and marketing infrastructure.We are looking for a Web Designer / Developer who can help us build, improve, maintain, and scale websites across multiple client projects and Braven-owned properties.This is not a role for someone who only installs templates or produces AI-generated pages. We are looking for someone who understands how design, development, usability, performance, accessibility, content, and business objectives work together.What You’ll DoYou will work across design, development, optimization, and ongoing website operations.Your responsibilities will include:Build and maintain responsive websites primarily using WordPress, along with platforms such as Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, Wix, or Custom Code when required.Translate approved designs, wireframes, brand systems, and business requirements into polished, functional web experiences.Create reusable components and page systems instead of rebuilding the same patterns repeatedly.Write and maintain clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript when platform tools are not enough.Customize WordPress themes, templates, blocks, Elementor components, and plugins.Maintain consistency with established design systems, typography, spacing, components, interaction patterns, and brand standards.Optimize websites for performance, Core Web Vitals, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.Identify and fix layout, functionality, mobile, performance, and usability issues.Implement forms, analytics, tracking, third-party tools, APIs, and marketing integrations.Support SEO implementation including metadata, heading structure, schema, internal linking, image optimization, and technical fundamentals.Apply accessibility best practices throughout design and development.Perform QA before launch and after major site changes.Maintain clear documentation for components, integrations, workflows, and website configurations.Collaborate with designers, marketers, project managers, and stakeholders to turn requirements into working digital products.AI Workflow & Integration KnowledgeAI is part of our workflow, but it does not replace design or development judgment.You should be comfortable using modern AI tools to improve your workflow across areas such as:Front-end development and debuggingResearch and technical problem solvingContent and SEO workflowsQA and website auditsAutomationAPI integrationsDocumentationPrototyping and ideationExperience connecting AI tools, APIs, automation platforms, or LLM-based services into websites or internal workflows is highly valued.More importantly, you should be able to review AI-generated output critically rather than simply accepting what a tool produces.Required Experience4+ years of professional website design or development experience.Strong experience with WordPress.Strong HTML5 and CSS3 skills.Working knowledge of JavaScript.Strong responsive design fundamentals.Ability to reproduce a design accurately from Figma, mockups, or an existing design system.Understanding of UI/UX fundamentals.Experience building and maintaining production websites.Experience troubleshooting WordPress, plugins, themes, CSS, and JavaScript issues.Understanding of website performance optimization.Familiarity with Git or another version-control workflow.Experience integrating forms, analytics platforms, marketing tools, APIs, or third-party services.Strong attention to visual and technical detail.Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote environment.Professional working proficiency in English.Preferred ExperienceExperience in any of the following is a plus:ElementorGutenberg / WordPress block developmentShopifyWooCommerceWixSquarespaceWebflowAdobe XDFigmaPHPREST APIsJavaScript frameworksGSAP or similar interaction librariesGoogle Tag Manager and analytics implementationTechnical SEOConversion Rate OptimizationA/B testingWCAG / web accessibilityCloudflareWebsite security and deployment workflowsAutomation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar platformsAI APIs and AI-assisted development workflowsPortfolio RequirementPlease include a portfolio with 3–5 websites that you personally worked on.For each project, briefly explain:What you were responsible forWhat platform or technology was usedWhether you handled design, development, or bothAny custom functionality you implementedLive websites are strongly preferred over screenshots.During the interview process, we may ask you to walk us through one of your projects and explain how you built it, the decisions you made, and how you solved specific problems.What We’re Looking ForWe value people who can look at a website and notice what is wrong before someone has to point it out.That includes visual inconsistencies, poor responsive behavior, unnecessary complexity, performance problems, accessibility issues, bad UX decisions, or code that will become difficult to maintain.We want someone who can follow an established system when one exists, improve it when appropriate, and contribute ideas rather than simply executing tickets.
