seeking an experienced Senior Windows Systems Administrator to support a Customer in Austin, TX. This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting an established enterprise Windows environment while the internal team focuses on broader modernization initiatives.The ideal candidate will bring strong Windows Server and Active Directory expertise and be comfortable taking ownership of an existing environment with minimal ramp-up. This role requires someone who can independently investigate complex infrastructure issues, maintain system health and stability, and make sound technical decisions without requiring significant day-to-day direction.The environment includes Windows Server, Active Directory, domain controllers, SCCM/MECM, VMware/vSphere, Windows virtual machines, and a growing hybrid Microsoft environment. As the organization continues its transition toward technologies such as Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, and Azure, this individual will play an important role in keeping the existing infrastructure stable and operational.What You’ll DoAdminister, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments.Manage and support Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and on-premises domain controllers.Diagnose and resolve Active Directory replication, authentication, connectivity, permissions, and domain-related issues.Create, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs).Administer Active Directory users, groups, computers, organizational units, and permissions.Administer and troubleshoot DNS and DHCP within a Windows environment.Perform Windows Server patching, updates, upgrades, maintenance, and lifecycle activities.Support and maintain the existing SCCM/MECM environment as the organization progresses toward Microsoft Intune.Monitor server health, performance, storage, services, and overall system availability.Troubleshoot Windows operating system, server, and infrastructure-related issues.Support Windows virtual machines and virtualized infrastructure.Assist with server builds, configurations, migrations, upgrades, and decommissioning.Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.Review system logs and utilize appropriate diagnostic tools to identify and resolve infrastructure issues.Maintain clear technical documentation related to configurations, processes, and procedures.Follow established security standards and Microsoft infrastructure administration best practices.Collaborate with internal team members working on Azure, Entra ID, Intune, automation, and other modernization initiatives.Identify opportunities for automation or infrastructure improvements where appropriate.What You’ll NeedStrong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server in an enterprise environment.Strong experience administering Active Directory Domain Services.Demonstrated hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting domain controllers.Experience troubleshooting Active Directory replication, authentication, permissions, connectivity, and domain-related issues.Strong experience with Group Policy administration and troubleshooting.Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting DNS and DHCP.Experience with Windows Server patching, upgrades, maintenance, and monitoring.Experience supporting SCCM/MECM in an enterprise Windows environment.Strong understanding of TCP/IP and core Windows networking concepts.Experience with server backup and recovery processes.Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex Windows infrastructure issues.Ability to take ownership of an existing enterprise environment and contribute with minimal training or supervision.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Intune.Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD.Experience supporting hybrid Active Directory/Entra environments.Experience with SCCM/MECM-to-Intune migrations or transitions.Microsoft Azure infrastructure or services experience.PowerShell scripting and automation experience.Experience with VMware/vSphere or similar virtualization technologies.Experience supporting complex, customized enterprise environments.Experience supporting public-sector or education IT environments.Familiarity with Microsoft server security hardening and security best practices.
