Workplace Technology EngineerLocation: Canary Wharf, LondonSalary: £36,000 – £40,000Job Type: PermanentSector: Corporate IT / Financial ServicesTGS International Group is currently working with a leading global technology and infrastructure services organisation to recruit a Workplace Technology Engineer for a high-profile corporate site in Canary Wharf.This is a hands-on infrastructure position suited to an engineer with experience across IMACD, breakfix, structured cabling and technology-room environments.You will be responsible for supporting physical IT infrastructure, hardware installations, moves and changes, connectivity, cabling and day-to-day infrastructure incidents within a highly controlled corporate environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver IMAC / IMACD and breakfix activities across workplace and technology-room environments.Install and maintain racks, servers, network equipment and associated hardware.Carry out equipment restacks, installations, relocations and decommissions.Manage network and cabinet patching, including rack-mounted PDUs.Perform WAN / LAN connectivity checks, hardware labelling and component swaps.Install, patch, trace and fault-find structured cabling.Carry out Fluke testing in line with client standards.Support cable recovery, redundant circuits, stock management and inventory records.Troubleshoot physical infrastructure issues including KVM / iLO, rack power, temperature and cabling faults.Conduct technology-room inspections and assist with alarm investigations.Escort and supervise third-party contractors working within controlled technology spaces.Manage service requests and incident tickets while maintaining accurate documentation.Support RMA administration, asset records and reporting.Assist with shift activities and mentor new starters where required.What We're Looking ForPrevious experience within a banking, financial-services or similarly controlled corporate IT environment.Hands-on experience with IMAC / IMACD, moves, decommissions and breakfix.Strong structured cabling experience, including installation, patching, tracing, fault finding and testing.Experience working within comms rooms / technology rooms containing racks, servers, network equipment and PDUs.Familiarity with asset-management and ticketing systems.Understanding of formal change-management, service-delivery and documentation processes.Ability to diagnose physical infrastructure faults and escalate appropriately.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Good Microsoft Office skills.Previous experience supervising shifts, mentoring engineers or supporting training would be advantageous.The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for an infrastructure engineer looking to develop their career within a high-profile corporate IT environment.The role offers exposure across workplace technology, structured cabling, hardware infrastructure, technology rooms, incident management and service delivery, making it an ideal position for someone who wants broader responsibility than a traditional desktop support or cabling role.
