The business continues to grow its nationwide presence while staying true to its FAST values: Fast, Adaptable, Solve Problems, Talk Straight.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Yard and Warehouse Operative role based in the West Midlands. The role involves safely loading and unloading vehicles, receiving and checking deliveries, and accurately picking, packing, and preparing customer orders. The Yard and Warehouse Operative will organise and maintain yard and warehouse areas, ensuring products are stored correctly, stock levels are monitored, and housekeeping standards are consistently high. The role includes operating manual handling equipment (and, where licensed, forklifts or similar machinery), following health and safety procedures, and supporting efficient turnaround of orders for next-day delivery. The individual will also assist drivers, liaise with the customer service and sales teams when needed, and contribute to a positive, solution-focused working environment.Qualifications Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently, with good general physical fitness suited to yard and warehouse work.Experience in warehouse, yard, logistics, or construction supply environments, ideally within builders’ merchants, groundworks, or civils sectors.Strong attention to detail for checking deliveries, picking orders accurately, and maintaining clear, organised storage areas.Basic numeracy and literacy skills for handling stock records, delivery notes, and order documentation.Commitment to health and safety best practices, including safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with drivers, yard colleagues, and office-based teams.Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude to solving problems and supporting fast-paced operations.Forklift truck or similar plant licence (counterbalance, telehandler, or reach truck) is desirable; training may be available for the right candidate.Willingness to learn about drainage and groundworks products, with the ability to follow company procedures and represent Drainfast’s FAST values.
