Our youth programs introduce children and teens to the joy of making art while building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts.ABOUT THE POSITIONWayne Art Center is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, organized, and community-minded Youth Art Programs Manager to lead and manage our youth and teen arts education programs. This is an exciting opportunity for an arts professional, (residing in close proximity to WAC), who is passionate about working with children and teens and understands the power of art to foster creativity, confidence, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.The Youth Art Programs Manager plays a central role in creating a welcoming, safe, and high-quality experience for youth and families. The position manages the day-to-day coordination of youth classes, workshops, summer art camp, outreach programs, exhibitions, and special events while providing direction to teaching artists, designated staff, interns, and volunteers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESYouth Programs, Annual Planning, and Staff Management· Lead and manage the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of youth and teen programs, including seasonal classes, summer art camp, workshops, outreach programs, and special events.· Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and maintain an annual calendar of youth programs, events, exhibitions, registration periods, marketing activities, staffing needs, and key timelines.· Follow the annual calendar and ensure that programs, communications, staffing, supplies, registration, marketing, and other activities are planned and completed in a timely manner.· Manage, coordinate, and provide direction to teaching artists, designated staff, interns, and volunteers.· Recruit, schedule, orient, supervise, and support program personnel.· Provide clear expectations, guidance, and feedback and ensure appropriate follow-through.· Review curricula and lesson plans and ensure required clearances and program documentation are current.· Manage student enrollment, class rosters, attendance, medical forms, and other youth program records.· Serve as the primary on-site supervisor during youth programs.· Monitor program quality and address operational issues in a timely and professional manner.Youth and Family ExperienceCreate a welcoming, positive, and supportive environment for children, teens, and families.Demonstrate genuine care and concern for the safety, well-being, inclusion, and overall experience of youth participants.Serve as a confident, approachable, and professional point of contact for parents and caregivers.Communicate clearly and professionally regarding classes, schedules, policies, student needs, and special events.Respond to questions and concerns with empathy, confidence, sound judgment, and appropriate follow-through.Build positive relationships with families and strengthen their connection to Wayne Art Center.Creative Program DevelopmentCollaborate with the Executive Director and teaching artists to develop innovative and engaging youth arts programming.Assist in developing the annual theme and sub-themes for Summer Art Camp.Research and incorporate art history, cultures, artistic movements, and influential artists into camp themes and projects.Develop creative weekly themes that balance hands-on artmaking, creative exploration, art appreciation, and age-appropriate learning.Identify opportunities to introduce youth to diverse artists, artistic traditions, media, techniques, and perspectives.Studio Organization and ReadinessMaintain youth program studios in a clean, organized, safe, functional, and welcoming condition.Establish and maintain weekly studio organization and cleanup procedures.Ensure supplies, tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and readily accessible.Conduct quarterly studio organization and inventory overhauls.Identify and communicate maintenance, safety, supply, equipment, and facility needs.Ensure studios are appropriately prepared for classes, workshops, summer camp, exhibitions, and special programs.Exhibitions, Outreach, and Community EngagementCoordinate the annual Youth and Teen Art Exhibition.Plan and coordinate family workshops, scout programs, community events, field trips, private lessons, and other special programs.Develop and maintain displays promoting youth programs at WAC and at local libraries, schools, community organizations, and other appropriate venues.Identify additional opportunities to promote WAC youth programs throughout the Main Line community.Represent WAC at community events and outreach activities.Develop relationships with schools, community organizations, families, artists, educators, and other local partners.Marketing, Communications, and Community OutreachWork closely with the Executive Director and staff to develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan for youth programs.Coordinate promotion of seasonal classes, workshops, summer art camp, exhibitions, special events, and outreach programs throughout the year.Help maintain an annual calendar of marketing deadlines, including registration launches, email campaigns, social media, community outreach, promotional displays, advertising, and website updates.Provide program information, schedules, descriptions, photographs, and other content for website, social media, email, print, and other promotional materials.Collaborate with Wayne Art Center staff and designers to develop flyers, brochures, posters, banners, lawn signs, social media content, digital communications, and other promotional materials.Help maintain current and engaging youth program information on the Wayne Art Center website and in regular e-communications.Assist with press releases, feature articles, program announcements, and other communications.Develop and maintain attractive displays promoting youth programs at Wayne Art Center and at local libraries, schools, community organizations, and other appropriate venues.Build relationships with local libraries, schools, colleges, universities, community organizations, and other partners to expand awareness of WAC youth programs.Plan, coordinate, and participate in community events where Wayne Art Center is represented.Help develop targeted enrollment campaigns, particularly for summer art camp and seasonal youth programs.Gather and share compelling stories, student artwork, instructor features, testimonials, and other content that demonstrates the value and impact of WAC youth programs, with appropriate permissions.Track enrollment and other marketing information and help evaluate the effectiveness of promotional efforts.Provide program statistics and outcomes for grant proposals, reports, and development communications.Budget and ResourcesMonitor the youth program budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.Coordinate art material and equipment orders and maintain appropriate inventory.Monitor program expenses and communicate anticipated needs to the Executive Director.The ideal candidate will be:Passionate about the individual experience of every participant.QUALIFICATIONSRequiredBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.At least 3 years of experience in youth arts education, arts administration, program management, or a related field.Experience coordinating programs, schedules, instructors, volunteers, or similar personnel.Demonstrated ability to manage and provide direction to teachers, staff, interns, and volunteers.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently and professionally with parents and caregivers.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.Valid driver’s license.Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.Ability to maneuver and/or lift up to 35 pounds.Residence within reasonable commuting distance of WAC and familiarity with and connection to the Main Line community.PreferredGraduate degree in Arts Education, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, or related field.Management and/or supervisory experience.Budget management experience.Experience working with children and teens in an art center, museum, school, community arts organization, or similar setting.Experience developing youth art curriculum or thematic programming.Experience incorporating art history and artists into youth programming.Familiarity with a range of visual arts media
