Assistant Director - Education, Training & Research

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka), founded in 1999 and launched in June 2000 with the technical assistance of CMA Canada now CPA Canada and financial support of CIDA was incorporated by an Act of Parliament No. 23 of 2009 as the National Professional Management Accounting Institution in Sri Lanka. CMA is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Assistant Director – Education, Training & Research. The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of Cost & Management Accounting and Financial Accounting and will support the strategic development and implementation of academic programs, student training, and research activities. This role is key to advancing the institute’s mission for shaping the academic, professional development, and research strategy of the organization. The Institute wishes to recruit an energetic, self-motivated, objective-driven team player for the above vacancy.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating work relating to syllabus, study material and periodic review and update.
• Partnering with registered tuition providers and online platforms to ensure high-quality delivery of the institute's curriculum.
• Managing relationships with universities and global educational bodies to secure exemptions and degree mapping alignments.
• Driving digital and hybrid learning and revision programmes.
• Provision and Supervision of Corporate and Industry Practical Training for Students.
• Supporting work related to Education and Training committee.
• Publishing and coordinating technical articles, and research reports.
• Designing and deploying Executive Education and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs for qualified management accountants.
• Supporting special corporate activities undertaken by the institute. Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree: From a recognized local or foreign University in Management Accounting, Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Postgraduate Qualification: A master’s degree (MBA, M.Sc., or M.Phil.) in Business Administration, Education, Finance, Data Analytics or other related field.
• Professional Accountancy Status: Full Professional Accounting Qualification and Membership of CMA Sri Lanka or from an IFAC Member Body. Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-qualifying experience in a managerial or executive capacity within an educational institution, training department, or statutory board.
• Experience in designing curriculum, managing academic programs, coordinating professional training modules, or conducting lectures in financial and management accounting.
• Proven track record in research work, academic writing, or publishing in the fields of accounting, finance, or business management. Key Competencies & Skills:
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of management accounting principles, financial reporting standards, cost accounting standards and professional education frameworks.
• IT & Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, learning management systems (LMS), data-driven financial dashboards, and modern office applications.
• Communication & Leadership: Strong analytical, public speaking, team leadership.The remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
