Chief Accountant & Finance Expert

Would you like to take ownership of the finance function in a dynamic business environment?Our client is looking for a hands-on Chief Accountant & Finance Expert to take ownership of the statutory reporting and financial management of its Hungarian subsidiary.In this key role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of financial statements, ensuring compliance with local accounting and tax regulations, and overseeing the end-to-end finance processes of the entity. This is a highly operational position with significant hands-on involvement in accounting, reporting, tax, treasury, and day-to-day financial activities.Your responsibilities will include:Overseeing daily financial operations and ensuring accurate monthly and annual reportingEnsuring compliance with Hungarian accounting standards, tax regulations, and group reporting requirementsManaging tax-related activities, including VAT, CIT, local business tax, innovation tax, transfer pricing, and other relevant obligationsReviewing expenses, payment requests, documentation, and approval processesSupporting payroll-related calculations and ensuring compliance with labor and tax regulationsMaintaining and improving internal control processes and supporting audit requirementsMonitoring cash flow, working capital, banking processes, and FX-related exposureProviding financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, pricing, margin, and profitability analysisCoordinating with external auditors, banks, and other financial partnersLeading, mentoring, and developing the local finance teamWhat you need to succeed:Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, or a related fieldAt least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial roleStrong knowledge of Hungarian accounting and tax regulationsAdvanced Excel and SAP skillsQualification to submit annual reports.Excellent English communication skillsStrong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and business-oriented mindsetHigh level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detailAbility to work confidently in a changing, international environmentWhat you can expect:On-site work environment in a modern riverside office with rooftop terrace in BudapestCompetitive salary packagePerformance-based bonus opportunityCompany laptop and SIM cardSupportive team culture and regular team-building activitiesA responsible leadership position with broad ownership of local finance operationsIf this opportunity matches your experience and career goals, we encourage you to apply with your English CV.Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
