Director of Laboratory Services

An exciting opening for Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee core laboratory operations at a 190-bed hospital is now available in the Chicago Metro Area. This leader will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely diagnostic testing while maintaining regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and strong team performance.The ideal candidate brings a strong clinical laboratory background, proven leadership abilities, and a commitment to supporting excellent patient care through reliable laboratory services.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily core laboratory operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable testing services.Lead, develop, and support laboratory staff while promoting accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including CLIA and CAP, as applicable.Monitor quality assurance initiatives, quality control processes, and laboratory performance metrics.Manage staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to support efficient operations.Develop and implement policies, procedures, and process improvements to enhance quality, safety, and productivity.Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, nursing, and other departments to support clinical and operational goals.Oversee laboratory equipment, supplies, and operational resources to maintain dependable service delivery.Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a culture of excellence, safety, and patient-centered care.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent preferred.Prior experience in a hospital laboratory setting.Previous laboratory leadership or supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements, quality assurance, and core laboratory operations.Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.Why Consider This Opportunity?This is an opportunity to lead core laboratory services within a 190-bed hospital, make a meaningful impact on patient care, and help drive quality and operational excellence across the organization.Interested in learning more?
