Director of Operations

Director of Platform Operations | £150,000–£160,000 | Fully Remote (UK)I'm partnering with an established, growing SaaS organisation seeking an experienced Director of Platform Operations to take ownership of reliability, security and operational engineering across a large-scale technology platform.This is an opportunity for a senior engineering leader who's built and led high-performing SRE and Security Engineering functions, with a strong understanding of what it takes to operate business-critical SaaS products at scale.The OpportunityYou'll oversee approximately 15–20 engineers across Site Reliability Engineering, Security Engineering and Technical Operations, driving improvements in platform resilience, security posture and operational efficiency.Key responsibilities include:Leading SRE, Security Engineering and Technical Operations teams, developing engineering leaders and building a high-performance culture.Taking accountability for platform availability, reliability and incident management against a 99.9% availability commitment.Establishing and improving SLOs, error budgets, observability, capacity planning and operational resilience.Owning vulnerability management, security remediation frameworks and automated security practices.Driving a modern DevOps culture, enabling engineering teams to take greater ownership of their applications in production.Improving developer experience, automation and operational tooling to reduce manual effort and increase engineering productivity.Overseeing significant AWS infrastructure investment and contributing to platform cost efficiency.What We're Looking ForProven senior leadership experience across genuine Site Reliability Engineering and Security Engineering functions.Experience managing multiple engineering teams and engineering managers.Strong background operating high-traffic, customer-facing SaaS environments at significant scale.Deep AWS knowledge, with experience of Terraform and modern cloud infrastructure.Strong understanding of incident management, SLOs, error budgets, vulnerability remediation and DevSecOps.Experience implementing automation, improving reliability and driving operational transformation.Ability to communicate technical risk and operational performance at executive level.The Package£150,000–£160,000 salaryFully remote within the UKSignificant ownership of platform reliability and security strategyWe're looking for someone who sees SRE as an engineering discipline, not simply traditional IT operations under a different name.If you've led complex, large-scale SaaS environments and enjoy building resilient, secure and highly automated platforms, I'd be keen to speak.Drop me a message for a confidential conversation.
