The business is investing in Agentic AI to improve engineering effectiveness, accelerate innovation and create measurable value while maintaining rigorous standards of safety, quality and compliance.Your New RoleAs Head of Artificial Intelligence, you’ll take ownership of the organisation’s AI adoption and deployment strategy, turning emerging AI capabilities into scalable, production-ready solutions. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity combining AI strategy, technology delivery, governance and organisational adoption.You’ll:Define and execute the Agentic AI roadmap, prioritising initiatives with tangible engineering and business impact.Lead the delivery and scaling of AI-enabled solutions across engineering and business workflows.Work closely with technology leaders and domain specialists to embed AI into existing ways of working.Establish governance and controls covering Responsible AI, security, traceability, product safety, risk and regulatory compliance.Drive adoption through training, coaching and change management.Define and monitor KPIs covering AI adoption, productivity and business outcomes.Provide strategic AI insight to senior leadership and contribute to executive-level discussions when required.Engage with research partners, industry communities and relevant external stakeholders.What You’ll Need to SucceedMSc, PhD or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.Proven experience taking AI solutions from design through production and scale, with demonstrable business impact.Strong hands-on knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, RAG and AI-assisted software engineering.Experience integrating AI into engineering-intensive environments such as software development, systems engineering, testing, verification & validation or knowledge management.Experience delivering AI capabilities within a regulated industry, such as aerospace, defence, medical devices, automotive, rail, energy or financial services.Ability to measure and communicate the value generated by AI initiatives.Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across both technical and executive audiences.A self-directed approach, with the judgement to establish priorities and deliver effectively in ambiguous environments.What You’ll Get in ReturnA highly influential role shaping how AI is adopted across engineering and wider business operations.Private health insurance.Additional holidays linked to tenure..Flexible working hours aligned with team and business objectives.Competitive compensation package.What You Need to Do NowIf you’ve moved beyond AI experimentation and know what it takes to deploy, govern and scale AI in real production environments, this could be an opportunity to lead that transformation from the front.Ready to shape how Agentic AI is applied in safety-critical engineering?
