Key Account Manager - Flower Division

Oak Valley Estate is situated in the heart of Elgin, approximately 70km east of Cape Town. The farm is renowned for its apples, pears, 17 hectares of greenhouse cut-flowers, and the production of premium cool-climate wines.We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Key Account Manager – Retail to lead our relationships with South Africa's major retail chains.Oak Valley Flowers has proudly supplied Woolworths with quality flowers for over 40 years. This senior role takes day-to-day ownership of our national retail accounts, including Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Checkers, SPAR and Food Lover's Market, and is responsible for growing these partnerships profitably.The ideal candidate is a confident negotiator who understands retail buying, combines commercial discipline with attention to detail, and builds lasting relationships at every level of a customer's business.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and develop relationships with buyers, product developers and category teams across our key retail accounts.Prepare and execute annual account plans to grow sales, margin and market share.Lead pricing proposals, annual cost-price negotiations and trading terms with retail buyers.Provide accurate weekly and seasonal sales forecasts to support production, procurement and packhouse planning.Plan and manage promotions and peak trading periods, including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and the festive season.Drive product and range development with retail partners, including new bouquet recipes and packaging.Monitor service levels, quality feedback and claims, and resolve customer issues quickly.Ensure compliance with retailer technical, ethical and audit requirements.Analyse retail sales data and report on account performance, trends and opportunities.Identify and develop new business opportunities within the retail channel.Candidate RequirementsA Degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture or a related field.At least 5 years' key account management experience with major South African retailers.Experience in fresh produce, flowers or other perishable categories is strongly preferred.A proven track record in pricing, negotiation and joint business planning with retail buyers.Strong numerical and analytical skills, with advanced Excel and experience using retailer data portals.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills at senior level.Willingness to travel and to work flexibly during peak trading periods.A valid driver's licence.Application ProcessPlease email your CV and a cover letter to hr@oak-valley.co.za by Friday, 13 November 2026.
