Mechanical CAD & Product Designer

We are building Cookie, a friendly AI companion robot for children. We’re looking for a hands-on designer who can translate the product concept into detailed mechanical designs and support fabrication, assembly and prototype improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Cookie’s exterior body, internal frame, enclosure and component layout.Develop the head and neck movement mechanisms, motor mounts and mobile base.Integrate the display, cameras, microphones, speakers, electronics and battery into a compact, serviceable design.Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, exploded assembly views and mechanical bills of materials.Design parts for 3D printing and prototype fabrication, with consideration for future manufacturing.Address child safety, stability, cable routing, ventilation, noise and protection around moving parts.Work with electronics engineers and fabrication vendors to assemble, test and refine the prototype.Required SkillsStrong proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo or an equivalent CAD tool.Experience designing physical products, robotic assemblies or consumer electronics enclosures.Understanding of mechanisms, tolerances, materials, fasteners and design for manufacturing.Hands-on experience with 3D printing, assembly and prototype iterations.Ability to combine appealing product aesthetics with practical mechanical engineering.Preferred Experience2–5 years in mechanical design, industrial product design or robotics.Experience with servo-driven mechanisms, pan-and-tilt assemblies or tracked/wheeled platforms.Experience taking a product from concept through a working physical prototype.Expected DeliverablesEditable CAD source files, STEP/STL files, manufacturing drawings, assembly documentation, mechanical BOM and support through prototype assembly and validation.
