Performance Engineer

We are looking for a Performance Engineer to help assess and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of software systems. You will work with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, plan and run performance tests, analyse results, and recommend practical improvements.The role is suited to someone with strong analytical skills who can turn performance data into clear technical findings and collaborate effectively with colleagues across a software development environment.ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute performance, load, and scalability tests for applications and services.Establish performance baselines and assess system behaviour under different workloads.Analyse test results, monitoring data, and application metrics to identify bottlenecks.Investigate performance issues across application, infrastructure, network, and database layers.Work with development and operations teams to recommend and validate performance improvements.Assess system capacity, response times, throughput, resource usage, and reliability.Develop and maintain performance test scenarios, scripts, and supporting tools.Document findings, risks, and recommendations in a clear and actionable way.Contribute to performance engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.OutcomesIdentify bottlenecks, benchmark performance and create an optimisation roadmap.End-to-end API performance baseline.Scalability and capacity assessment.Prioritised improvement roadmap.Evidence-based recommendations for future investment.RequirementsSolid experience with K6, Grafana, Promotheus, Devops skills - pipelineUnderstanding of load testing, stress testing, capacity assessment, and performance metrics.Ability to analyse performance data and identify root causes of bottlenecks.Familiarity with application architecture, APIs, databases, and distributed systems.Experience using scripting or programming languages to create test scenarios or automate analysis.Understanding of monitoring, logging, and profiling concepts.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams.Nice to haveExperience with performance testing or load-testing tools.Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerised environments, or CI/CD pipelines.Experience with application profiling and observability tools.Knowledge of database query analysis and optimisation.Experience defining performance objectives or service-level indicators.About BrillioBrillio LLC is a fast-growing, pure-play Digital Transformation Solutions and Services company backed by Bain Capital private equity.
