Production Deputy Department Manager - Shrimp Feed Manufacturing

About the Role

The Production Deputy Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shrimp feed manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient production, consistent product quality, cost control, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This role leads production teams, optimizes processes, and ensures timely delivery to meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production OperationsPlan, organize, and manage daily production activities for shrimp feed (pellet/crumb feed).Ensure production targets are met in terms of volume, quality, and timeline.Monitor production processes including grinding, mixing, pelleting, drying, and packaging.Optimize production efficiency, yield, and machine utilization. 2. Quality Control & AssuranceEnsure all products meet nutritional and physical quality specifications.Work closely with QA/QC team to maintain compliance with standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP, ISO).Address product deviations and implement corrective actions.3. Team LeadershipSupervise and develop production staff, including supervisors and operators.Provide training on SOPs, safety, and process improvements.Manage manpower planning, shift schedules, and productivity.4. Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and lower production costs.Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma if applicable).Participate in new product trials and process optimization.5. Maintenance CoordinationCoordinate with maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability.Minimize downtime by preventive maintenance planning.Ensure machines (extruders, pellet mills, mixers) operate at optimal conditions.6. Inventory & Material ManagementMonitor raw materials usage (fish meal, soybean meal, additives, etc.).Ensure proper storage and handling to maintain quality.Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams.7. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with regulations.Maintain a safe working environment in production areas.Lead incident investigations and preventive actions.8. Reporting & CompliancePrepare production reports, KPIs, and performance analysis.Ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards.Collaborate with other departments (Sales, R&D, Logistics).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Animal Nutrition, Aquaculture, Food Engineering / Feed Technology or related field.Experience: - Minimum 5–10 years' experience in feed production, preferably aquafeed (shrimp feed). - At least 3–5 years in a managerial role in a manufacturing environment. - Experience with pellet mill or extrusion process is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Feed formulation and shrimp nutrition basics - Aquafeed production processes (grinding, mixing, pelleting/extrusion) - Quality standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO) - Familiarity with ERP or production planning systems. - Knowledge of machinery such as Mixer, Pellet mill, Post conditioner, dryers, and coating systems.Leadership & Soft Skills: - Strong leadership and team management abilities. - Problem-solving and decision-making skills. - Good communication and coordination skills. - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
