-Indo German Alkaloids, the parent company of the INGA Group, was founded in 1958 by Dr. Abraham Patani after completing doctoral studies in phytochemistry at the University of Mainz, Germany. The company began with manufacturing activities focused on phytochemicals and fine chemicals and has since grown as a pioneer in alkaloid research. To support this specialization, the group started cultivating plants for isolating active principles at plantations across northern, southern, and western India in 1966. Today, Indo German Alkaloids combines scientific expertise with large-scale cultivation and production, offering candidates the opportunity to contribute to establish, research-driven operations in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. The corporate office is in Mumbai. The R & D manufacturing facilities are at Andheri East, Mumbai & Hyderabad.Role SummaryThe Production Manager is responsible from the extraction-to-finished-actives process chain — from raw-material intake to the standardized alkaloid/extract — managing batch-to-batch variability in raw material, campaign-based production, solvent-intensive operations, and recovery of value from mother liquors and spent biomass.Key Responsibilities● Coordinate raw-material (root/bark/seed/leaf/whole-herb) intake with Procurement/Stores, verifying moisture and assay before release to production.● Oversee solvent extraction of pulverized plant material to isolate target alkaloids/phytoconstituents.● Oversee fractional crystallization/recrystallization and salt formation to achieve pharmacopeial-grade purity.● Maximize solvent recovery through distillation/evaporation systems to control cost.● Ensure every batch is manufactured as per approved BMR/BPCR and SOPs.● Maintain cGMP/WHO-GMP compliance and audit readiness.● Enforce solvent/chemical handling and process-safety protocols.Educational Qualification● M. Pharm (Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Chemistry) or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry/Natural Products Chemistry preferred, given the plant-derived, non-synthetic nature of the process.● B. Pharm or B.Sc. (Chemistry) with substantial relevant plant-extraction experience is acceptable.Experience & Skills Required● 5-7 years in alkaloid, phytochemical or standardized herbal-extract manufacturing — extraction, isolation, crystallization and purification operations.● Working knowledge of natural-product separation principles (fractional crystallization, salt formation, partition, chromatography).● Familiarity with pharmacopeial (IP/BP/USP/EP) assay methods and standardizing variable raw material to a fixed specification.● Strong cross-functional coordination with QA/QC, R&D, Stores and HR.Key Performance IndicatorsKPIExtraction yield / recovery %Assay consistency (batch-to-batch)Solvent recovery %Campaign schedule adherenceRejection / reprocessing rateSafety incidentsTarget OrientationMaximize target alkaloid recovered per unit raw materialMeet standardized potency % despite raw-material variabilityMaximize recovery, minimize fresh-solvent consumptionOn-time completion of seasonal production campaignsMinimize batches failing assay/purity specificationZero lost-time incidents in solvent-handling areas
