Master Finance is a comprehensive cross-asset front-to-accounting platform supporting complex financial workflows.As our client base continues to grow, we are strengthening our technical and functional teams at our Lugano headquarters.The roleJoin THEMA Consulting's product development team and contribute to the evolution of Master Finance, our enterprise platform supporting Treasury, Capital Markets and Risk Management activities for banks and corporates.As a Senior Java Back-End Developer, you will design, develop and maintain core services and frameworks, contributing to the architecture, reliability and performance of a complex, data-intensive financial platform.Working closely with other developers, functional consultants and business stakeholders, you will translate demanding business requirements into robust technical solutions. You will take an active role in architectural decisions, technical design, code reviews and software quality, helping evolve a shared product deployed across different client environments.This is a hands-on senior engineering role combining software development, architectural ownership and system integration. You will work with modern Java and Spring technologies while contributing to the evolution and integration of established enterprise components.Profile requirements5+ years of professional experience developing enterprise Java applications, with demonstrated senior-level technical ownership.Strong knowledge of Java 25+ and modern Java development practices, including object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns and dependency injection.Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot, together with proficiency in Git and Gradle.Proven experience designing and maintaining data-intensive, multi-tier applications, with a focus on modularity, maintainability, scalability and reliability.Strong experience with Oracle RDBMS, SQL, database modelling, transaction management, ORM frameworks and database performance tuning.Solid understanding of asynchronous messaging and enterprise integration patterns, including JMS and related APIs.Experience designing and maintaining service-oriented and distributed applications, including API design, system integration, error handling, resilience and reliable inter-service communication.Strong understanding of application security, including TLS, certificate management, mutual authentication and secure handling of sensitive data.Experience designing and implementing automated unit and integration tests, using JUnit and related testing tools, to ensure software quality and prevent regressions.Experience developing and maintaining product-based software solutions, including customer-specific configurations, reusable features, patches and product customizations.Ability to drive technical design and contribute to architectural decisions, evaluating trade-offs and balancing maintainability, reliability, performance, delivery timelines and business priorities.Ability to collaborate effectively with Back-End and Front-End developers, functional consultants and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, pragmatism and effective communication in an international, multicultural environment.Fluent in Italian and English.Nice to haveBSc or MSc in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Experience with Apache Thrift or other cross-language RPC and interoperability frameworks.Experience with messaging platforms such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ or Kafka.Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and automated quality gates.Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum.Experience integrating Java services with native C++ applications running on Microsoft Windows.Experience with Windows Server or Unix-based runtime environments.Experience in banking, Treasury, Capital Markets or Risk Management applications.Familiarity with Front-End technologies such as Angular.IndustryInformation Technology and Services Financial Services Capital Markets Employment TypeFull-time Job FunctionsSenior DeveloperDisclaimer / Policy StatementsTHEMA Consulting is an Equal Opportunity Employer: we respect and seek to empower each individual and support the diverse cultures, perspectives, skills and experiences within our workforce.
