Solutions Architect

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join our architecture function and lead the design of complex managed infrastructure and cloud solutions.This is a customer-facing role that sits between presales, onboarding, and delivery. You will own solution design from early customer engagement through to delivery handover, making sure every solution is technically robust, commercially viable, and aligned with our platforms. You will take ownership of engagements from an early stage and drive design forward with customers, Sales, the Lead Architect, delivery, and operations.This is a permanent, full-time position based on-site at our Hamilton office, three days a week as a minimum, with occasional travel to customer sites and data centres.What You’ll Be Doing:Designing Customer SolutionsLeading customer design and onboarding workshopsGathering and refining technical and business requirements, and translating them into clear architectural solutionsProducing high-quality High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and project artefacts that are practical, supportable, and buildableEnsuring designs align with our service offerings and standardsSupporting PresalesThis is not a pure presales role, but you will be involved early in the customer lifecycle:Supporting Sales colleagues in technical discussions with customersShaping solutions that meet customer needs within commercial and service constraintsContributing to proposals, solution descriptions, and technical responses, making sure what we propose can be delivered and supportedOwning Design Through HandoverYou will act as the design authority as work moves into delivery:Clearly documenting assumptions, dependencies, and constraintsWorking with delivery teams so designs are understood and buildableProviding clarification and guidance during implementationWorking Across the Platform PortfolioYour designs may span several service areas, and you will work with the Lead Architect to keep them aligned with evolving platform standards:Compute platforms (shared, dedicated, and private)Storage services (file, block, and object)Networking and connectivity servicesBackup, archive, and disaster recoverySecurity controls and managed security servicesWhat We’re Looking For:Experience Significant experience designing infrastructure and cloud solutions in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or Cloud Services Provider (CSP) environmentBroad technical experience across compute, storage, networking, backup, and disaster recoveryExperience owning end-to-end solution design rather than isolated componentsStrong awareness of operational and Day-2 considerations, and a pragmatic approach to balancing technical quality, commercial reality, and operational constraintsA self-starter, comfortable progressing work independently without detailed instructionComfortable using AI-assisted tools to support design and documentation, and willing to help drive their adoption within the teamConfident, professional communicator, comfortable leading technical workshops and customer discussionsAble to explain complex technical concepts clearly to a range of audiencesWorks closely with Sales, Architecture, Delivery, and Operations, and takes ownership of design outcomesDesirable ExperienceExperience working with public sector or regulated customersFamiliarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR)Exposure to cloud, hybrid, or sovereign cloud platformsExperience working in environments focused on automation and platform standardisationWhat Success Looks LikeCustomers receive clear, well-structured designs that meet their needsDelivery teams receive designs that are easy to interpret and implementFewer late-stage design changes or escalationsSolutions align with our managed service platforms and commercial modelsBenefits33 days annual leavePension: 5% employee, 5% employerLife assurance at 4x salaryGroup income protection at 70% of salary for up to 2 yearsHelp@Hand: remote GP, physiotherapy, nutritionist, and moreCycle to Work and EV car salary sacrifice schemes6 fully expensed company events per yearOption to donate to charity through salary
