Trade Finance Specialist / Trade Operations Analyst

Role Description The Trade Finance Specialist / Trade Operations Analyst will support end-to-end trade finance activities for projects associated with the Chair of Alpine Mass Movements at ETH Zürich & SLF Davos, working closely with partners and suppliers in Ajman Emirate and abroad. This part-time, hybrid role involves preparing, reviewing, and processing trade finance documentation, with a particular focus on letters of credit and related instruments. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant international rules and bank requirements, monitoring transaction status, resolving discrepancies, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external financial institutions. The specialist will also maintain accurate records, prepare periodic reports on trade finance exposures, and help optimize workflows and risk controls across trade operations. Work will be primarily based in Ajman Emirate, United Arab Emirates, with the flexibility to perform some tasks from home.Qualifications A strong foundation in trade finance concepts, including practical experience with Trade Finance and Letters of Credit.Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards, particularly UCP 600 and related trade documentation practices.Skills in Finance and analytical review, including the ability to assess transaction risk, costs, and compliance requirements.Business Relationship Management capabilities to collaborate effectively with banks, clients, suppliers, and internal teams.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; professional certifications in trade finance are an advantage.Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple transactions on a part-time schedule.Proficiency with standard office software and trade finance platforms; familiarity with banking systems is beneficial.Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language skills relevant to the region are a plus.Ability to work in a hybrid setup based in Ajman Emirate, maintaining reliability, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
