Assistant Civil Engineer

Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, award-winning Civil Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy with offices in Southampton, Oxford and Cambridge. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Assistant Civil Engineer to join our expanding team in Cambridge.This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with consultancy experience who is looking to develop their technical and project management skills across a diverse range of development and infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and industry professionals, you will play a key role in delivering highways, drainage, and infrastructure designs for clients across the UK.The OpportunityAs an Assistant Civil Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of a variety of civil engineering projects, from residential and commercial developments to major infrastructure schemes.Key responsibilities will include:Supporting the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.Producing technical designs in accordance with industry standards including Sewers for Adoption, the SuDS Manual, Manual for Streets, and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.Preparing accurate, high-quality engineering drawings and technical packages.Acting as a point of contact for designated aspects of projects and liaising with clients, developers, architects, and local authorities.Working closely with senior engineers to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.Using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other engineering software to develop designs and technical solutions.Supporting project delivery while gaining valuable experience in technical design and project coordination.Contributing to business development activities, marketing initiatives, and networking opportunities.Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.This role offers excellent exposure to a broad range of projects, ongoing professional development and support towards achieving professional accreditation.About You:We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is keen to develop their career within a growing consultancy environment.You will have:An HND, BEng, MEng, or MSc in Civil Engineering.A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role within a civil engineering consultancy.Experience working on drainage, highways, and infrastructure projects.Knowledge of relevant design standards, guidance, and best practices.Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or equivalent 3D design software).Experience working with developers, architects, and local authorities.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.A proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality work.A desire to work towards (or be actively progressing towards) ICE professional accreditation.The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.Why Join Paul Basham Associates?Join a growing, award-winning consultancy.Work on a wide variety of challenging and rewarding projects.Be part of a supportive and collaborative team culture.Opportunity to take ownership of projects and influence outcomes.Ongoing professional development and support towards chartership.Excellent career progression opportunities within a thriving business.Apply Now:If you're ready to start your Civil Engineering career with a company that is passionate about developing future talent, we'd love to hear from you.To find out more about Paul Basham Associates, visit www.paulbashamassociates.com.
