About the RoleDesign Director will lead and oversee all design aspects of the company’s real estate development projects, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic vision and goals.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement the design strategy for all projects in alignment with the company’s vision and business objectives.Provide creative direction and ensure innovative design solutions that enhance project value and market appeal.Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to integrate design considerations into the overall project development strategy.Lead, mentor, and manage the Senior Design Manager and MEP Manager, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.Oversee the performance and professional development of the design team, ensuring alignment with project goals.Oversee all stages of the design process, from concept to construction documentation and delivery.Ensure the integration of architectural, interior, landscape, and MEP elements into cohesive project designs.Review and approve design proposals, drawings, and specifications to ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and budgetary constraints.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants, to achieve project objectives.Serve as the primary point of contact for design-related discussions with partners and clients.Ensure that design deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and sustainability.Conduct regular reviews and audits of design work to maintain consistency and excellence.Monitor and control design budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.Work with the project management team to align design schedules with overall project timelines.Champion innovative design solutions and technologies that enhance project efficiency and sustainability.Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices to inform design decisions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related fieldMinimum of 20 years of experience in design managementDesign Director experience with a Project Management Consultancy on residential assetsRequired SkillsStrategic thinking to align design strategies with organizational goals and anticipate future trends and challenges.Exceptional creativity and the ability to develop innovative and market-leading design solutions.Proven leadership skills to mentor, inspire, and manage multidisciplinary teams while fostering a collaborative culture.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.Comprehensive knowledge of design processes, architectural principles, and MEP systems, with proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.Analytical and solution-oriented problem-solving approach to address design challenges.
