Full Stack Engineering Intern
Complyance · Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
Tailor my CV for this job — freeAbout the jobComplyance is a fast-growing e-invoicing and tax compliance SaaS company. Through a single API, we help businesses meet e-invoicing mandates across markets, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia’s ZATCA requirements, without rebuilding their finance systems every time a regulation changes. Our platform is live across 10+ jurisdictions, and we are now expanding from a strong MENA and India base into Europe and the US.We build compliance and e-invoicing software across web applications, APIs, integrations, CRM systems, workflow automation and document-processing systems. We are a growing startup with a small team, a broad engineering surface, and a strong focus on correctness, security and reliability. As an intern, you will contribute to real product development, not just observe, shadow or complete training exercises.Life at Complyance :You will receive guidance and feedback, but you should also be comfortable exploring problems independently and asking focused questions when you are blocked. We hire for transferable fundamentals, ownership and learning ability, not familiarity with a specific language or framework. The mission :Your core focus is AI-assisted full-stack product development. You will work across frontend and backend systems, understand existing code, implement well-defined features, investigate defects and test your work carefully. You will work directly on product areas including CRM workflows, project management systems, business process automations, integrations and internal productivity tools, building features that support real customer and internal business processes. We use approved AI coding assistants and coding agents in our daily engineering workflow, and you will be expected to use them responsibly. But AI does not replace engineering judgement: you must understand and take responsibility for everything you submit.Where you’ll leave your mark :
- Ship real features: Build well-defined frontend and backend functionality across browser interfaces, APIs, application services, databases, integrations and asynchronous workflows.
- Build CRM and project management features: Work on contacts, companies, leads, opportunities, pipelines and customer workflows, and on projects, tasks, assignments, statuses and priorities.
- Automate business processes: Develop and maintain workflow automations using triggers, actions, conditions, scheduled jobs, notifications and webhooks that reduce manual work.
- Connect systems: Build and maintain third-party integrations and APIs that link different systems and business workflows.
- Write code you can stand behind: Read requirements and existing code first, write clear, maintainable code that follows our conventions, and create unit, integration and browser-level tests that cover failure scenarios, permissions and edge cases.
- Fix what’s broken: Reproduce, investigate, fix and verify defects, and grow through code reviews.
- Communicate and keep learning: Share progress, assumptions, risks and blockers early, document important technical decisions, and explain what you built, how it works, where it may fail and how you verified it.How we use AI :At Complyance, responsible AI usage is an expected engineering skill. You should be able to:
- Give AI tools relevant context, constraints and a clear objective.
- Use AI to explore code, compare approaches, scaffold bounded changes, generate tests and debug errors.
- Review every AI-generated change before submitting it, and remove invented APIs, unsafe defaults, duplication, weak tests and unnecessary complexity.
- Verify output through your own reasoning, automated checks and direct runtime testing.
- Use only approved tools, and protect credentials, source code, customer information and regulated data.
- Understand and explain everything you submit, however it was produced.Generated code that you cannot explain or verify is not considered complete work. The kind of builder we’re looking for You’ll likely thrive in this role if you:
- Have strong fundamentals in at least one programming language: control flow and functions, modules and code organisation, data structures, error handling, asynchronous behaviour and basic algorithmic trade-offs.
- Understand HTML, CSS, browser behaviour and responsive interfaces.
- Have completed at least one meaningful software project beyond a guided tutorial.
- Have a basic understanding of HTTP, APIs, databases, data modelling, Git and pull requests.
- Debug methodically and can explain the evidence behind a conclusion.
- Have practical exposure to an AI coding assistant or coding agent while building software.
- Are willing to test carefully, accept direct feedback and keep improving.
- Investigate independently, ask clear and useful questions, and communicate well in writing and in conversation.Your experience can come from internships, academic projects, freelance work, open-source contributions, hackathons or independently built products. Up to one year of relevant experience is a plus, but not mandatory.Bonus points :
- Basic familiarity with CRM concepts, such as contacts, companies, leads, opportunities and pipelines.
- Basic familiarity with project management concepts, such as projects, tasks, assignments, statuses, priorities and dependencies.
- Basic understanding of workflow automation, such as triggers, actions, conditions, scheduled jobs, notifications and webhooks.
- Exposure to building or consuming third-party APIs and integrations.
- Experience with automation platforms, workflow engines or business applications. What success looks like A successful intern at Complyance:
