Health Safety Environment Officer

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.Recognised HSE qualification such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent.SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO), or eligibility for registration.Practical HSE experience within construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, EPC, or industrial projects.Renewable-energy project exposure, particularly Solar PV, Wind, BESS, Transmission & Distribution, or Substations, would be beneficial.Sound understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and Construction Regulations, 2014.Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, site inspections, contractor compliance and HSE reporting.Valid South African driver's licence and willingness to work on project sites.COMPETENCIESLeadership and influenceRisk assessment and incident investigationHealth and safety managementEnvironmental complianceAudit and inspection managementContractor managementTraining and coachingStakeholder engagementReport writing and data analysisStrong communication and interpersonal skillsMAIN OBJECTIVES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Support implementation of Aurex HSE requirements on site.Conduct regular HSE inspections and compliance checks.Assist with hazard identification and project risk assessments.Monitor contractor compliance with project HSE requirements.Participate in incident investigations and monitor corrective actions.Assist with site inductions, toolbox talks and HSE awareness/training.Monitor compliance with applicable environmental requirements.Maintain HSE documentation, statistics and project records.Assist with HSE performance and KPI reporting.Participate in site and project meetings and raise HSE risks or concerns.Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across the project.At Aurex we value the dynamic element of diversity and embrace the different perspectives everyone brings to the business.
