Primary Design Engineer

Senior Primary Design Engineer – AdelaideWe’re recruiting a Senior Primary Design Engineer in Adelaide on behalf of our client, a transmission and distribution business.You’ll report to the engineering leadership team. The role suits someone with strong hands-on design experience who can lead technical work packages from concept through to construction. You’ll work across a variety of projects, mentor junior engineers, and help shape design standards and processes across the organisation.ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver primary design packages, covering equipment selection, layout design and technical specificationsPrepare and review engineering drawings, calculations and design documentation in line with relevant standards and codesOversee the technical quality of design outputs from internal design teams and external consultantsWork with clients, stakeholders and internal project teams to understand design requirements and constraintsCarry out site assessments and inspections to inform and validate design solutionsSupport tendering and estimating by developing scopes, cost estimates and technical inputCoordinate with secondary systems, civil, structural and other disciplines to deliver integrated designsMake sure designs meet regulatory, safety and environmental requirementsMentor and guide graduate and junior engineersExperienceExtensive primary electrical design experience in the utilities, infrastructure or industrial sectorProven track record leading design packages on medium to large-scale projectsStrong working knowledge of industry standards, codes and regulatory frameworksSkilled in industry-standard design and drafting softwareAble to manage competing priorities across several projects at onceExperience working directly with clients and external stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
