Senior Design Manager - Civil

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager - Civil to lead and manage the civil engineering design activities for major infrastructure and masterplanning developments. The successful candidate will oversee the design process from concept through detailed design, ensuring technical quality, regulatory compliance, constructability, and alignment with project objectives.The role requires extensive experience in infrastructure, roads, utilities, and masterplan developments, preferably gained within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC), engineering consultancy, or major developer environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage civil engineering design activities across large-scale infrastructure and masterplanning projectsOversee the design and technical development of roads, highways, infrastructure networks, utilities, and associated civil worksReview and coordinate concept, schematic, detailed design, and tender documentation prepared by design consultantsEnsure integration of civil infrastructure designs with masterplans, architectural layouts, structural systems, and other engineering disciplinesManage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external engineering consultants to ensure timely and quality deliverablesReview design submissions for technical compliance, constructability, value engineering, and adherence to project specifications and applicable standardsOversee the planning and coordination of wet and dry utilities, including water, wastewater, stormwater, power, telecommunications, and other infrastructure networksProvide technical guidance on road geometry, grading, earthworks, drainage, site development, and infrastructure interfacesMonitor design progress, identify potential design risks and interface issues, and implement appropriate resolution strategiesCoordinate with clients, authorities, stakeholders, and utility providers to secure necessary technical approvals and design clearancesSupport procurement and tendering activities through technical reviews, scope definition, and evaluation of design-related submissionsEnsure design activities are aligned with project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and overall development objectivesIdentify opportunities for design optimization, value engineering, and sustainable infrastructure solutionsRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's Degree or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantageMinimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering design and design managementExtensive experience in infrastructure, roads, highways, utilities, and large-scale masterplan developmentsProven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and engineering consultants on major development or mega-projectsPrevious experience with a PMC, engineering consultancy, or client/developer organization is highly desirableStrong understanding of civil engineering design standards, authority requirements, infrastructure planning, and multidisciplinary design coordinationExperience managing design deliverables from concept and preliminary design through detailed design and tender stagesStrong stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and technical review capabilitiesProficiency in relevant engineering design and coordination tools and software
