Senior Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing)

Summary:We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Plumbing to join our MEP contracting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, supervising, and executing plumbing works across assigned projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, UAE regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise all plumbing works for building and infrastructure projects, from mobilization through testing, commissioning, and handover.Review and interpret plumbing design drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, material submittals, and method statements.Coordinate with consultants, clients, main contractors, project managers, and other MEP disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.Supervise the installation of domestic water supply, drainage, soil and waste systems, stormwater drainage, hot water systems, water pumps, storage tanks, and associated plumbing equipment.Ensure all plumbing activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable UAE codes, and authority requirements.Monitor site progress, manpower allocation, material availability, and subcontractor performance to meet project schedules.Prepare and review material requisitions, technical submissions, inspection requests, and progress reports.Conduct site inspections and coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with project quality requirements.Coordinate testing, flushing, pressure testing, commissioning, and inspection of plumbing systems.Identify and resolve technical issues, site discrepancies, and coordination conflicts with other trades.Liaise with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of approved materials and equipment.Monitor project costs, minimize material wastage, and ensure efficient utilization of manpower and resources.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements at all project sites.Attend project meetings, provide technical updates, and report progress, risks, and delays to project management.Review as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and other handover documentation.Lead and guide site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and technicians to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in plumbing and mechanical works within an MEP contracting company.Strong experience in the execution and supervision of plumbing systems for high-rise buildings, residential, commercial, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.Proven experience in managing plumbing works from installation through testing, commissioning, and project handover.Good knowledge of UAE plumbing regulations, authority requirements, and relevant international standards.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.Strong knowledge of shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection procedures, and project documentation.Experience coordinating with consultants, main contractors, suppliers, and other MEP disciplines.Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.UAE experience in an MEP contracting company is mandatory.Preferred:Experience in MEP contracting or consultancy.Knowledge of local authority regulations (if UAE-based).
