Role OverviewWe are seeking a Software Development Engineer & Technical Instructor with strong expertise in Low-Level Design (LLD) and High-Level Design (HLD).In this dual-track role, you will spend half your time actively building scalable internal platforms and production systems, and the other half guiding engineers and students through object-oriented design, architectural patterns, distributed systems, and real-world system design interview prep. You must be equally comfortable whiteboard-architecting a distributed cache and writing clean, SOLID-compliant code in a live classroom setting.Core Responsibilities1. System Architecture & Engineering (~50%)Production Engineering: Build, refactor, and scale core microservices, APIs, and student-facing interactive platforms.LLD Implementation: Apply clean code principles, design patterns (Creational, Structural, Behavioral), and SOLID paradigms to day-to-day codebases.HLD Execution: Assist in designing scalable, highly available backends—focusing on caching tiers, database partitioning, asynchronous processing, and load balancing.Tooling & Sandboxes: Build mock environments, automated test runners, and architecture simulation tools for student capstones.2. Instruction & System Design Mentorship (~50%)LLD & OOP Instruction: Teach object-oriented design from first principles (UML diagrams, design patterns, schema modeling, clean code, unit testing, and concurrency models).HLD Masterclasses: Walk learners through end-to-end distributed system blueprints (e.g., designing URL shorteners, distributed rate limiters, notification engines, and streaming pipelines).Live System Design Interviews: Run rigorous, interactive mock interviews evaluating trade-offs (CAP theorem, read/write throughput, latency vs. consistency, caching strategies).Curriculum & Case Studies: Write real-world, production-derived case studies, design documentation templates (RFCs/PRDs), and design assignment prompts.Required Qualifications & CompetenciesTechnical Experience (3+ Years)Experience Baseline: 3+ years of professional software development experience shipping and maintaining production services.Core Languages: Strong proficiency in at least one statically typed or OOP-friendly language (Java, C++, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, or Python).Low-Level Design (LLD):Practical command of SOLID principles, Design Patterns (Factory, Strategy, Observer, Decorator, Adapter, etc.), and schema normalization.Experience with multi-threading, concurrency control, and clean modular code architecture.High-Level Design (HLD):Hands-on understanding of distributed system fundamentals: Microservices, Load Balancers, API Gateways, Message Queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS), Caching (Redis/Memcached).Practical knowledge of Relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) data modeling, replication, and indexing strategies.Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS/GCP services, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.Teaching & Communication SkillsPedagogical Instinct: Prior experience teaching, conducting corporate training, mentoring junior/mid-level engineers, or delivering workshops on DSA and System Design.First-Principles Thinking: Proven ability to break down complex architectural trade-offs without buzzwords, using intuitive diagrams and clean abstractions.Live-Coding & Presentation: Comfortable live-coding, whiteboard sketching, and facilitating active Q&A sessions under scrutiny.
