Sustainability Manager

Manager – SustainabilityOur client, a leading bank, is seeking an experienced and passionate Manager – Sustainability to lead the organisation’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The ideal candidate will drive sustainability strategies, ensure compliance with global standards, and help build a culture of responsible and ethical practices across the organisation. This is a key leadership role that offers the opportunity to create meaningful environmental and social impact while contributing to long-term business value.Responsibilities Provide strategic and technical support to Board and senior management committees on sustainability, including policy reviews, new policy development, and ESG integration.Identify emerging sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities while working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders such as regulators, government bodies, and industry partners.Support the development of short- and long-term sustainability strategies and KPIs, and monitor and report on progress related to ESG implementation.Ensure the effective implementation of the Environmental and Social Risk Management System (ESMS) by building capacity across the Group.Conduct enhanced Environmental and Social Due Diligence for high-risk lending facilities and recommend appropriate Environmental and Social Action Plans.Review and strengthen ESMS policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.Lead climate risk assessments of the organization’s portfolio and provide technical guidance on sustainability-related risks.Support the development and implementation of sustainable finance solutions by providing technical expertise, including guidance on green finance frameworks and taxonomy.Engage with customers, development partners, and other stakeholders to identify innovative sustainable finance opportunities and support impact investment initiatives.Work with internal teams and value chain partners to support the net-zero strategy and manage the organization’s greenhouse gas footprint through resource efficiency and decarbonization initiatives.Ensure compliance with regulatory and investor sustainability reporting requirements and support sustainability and non-financial disclosures in the Annual Report.Assist with key sustainability initiatives, including social entrepreneurship programs, while strengthening the sustainability brand and promoting a strong sustainability culture through engagement activities.Expected Profile Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field.7+ years of relevant professional experience in Sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or corporate social responsibility.Strong understanding of sustainability standards, reporting frameworks, and applicable regulatory requirements.Proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership capabilities.Share your updated CV to careers@talentexpress.lkFollow our LinkedIn page for upcoming vacancies WhatsApp – 0779 391 791Web - www.talentexpress.lk
