Build the future of digital finance.We're looking for an accomplished Technical Architect to lead the end-to-end architecture of an ambitious fintech and digital asset platform.This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape the technology behind a sophisticated financial ecosystem spanning crypto investments, digital wallets, payments, trading and portfolio management.This isn't a traditional architecture role. We're looking for someone who can design complex systems, set engineering standards and take ownership of the platform's overall technical direction.The BusinessOur client is an ambitious financial technology business operating at the intersection of fintech, cryptocurrency and Web3.The business is building an integrated digital financial ecosystem spanning investments, crypto infrastructure, payments, trading and financial operations.Operating across multiple jurisdictions, it prioritises security, regulatory compliance and scalability, offering an opportunity to shape a sophisticated platform in one of the fastest-growing areas of financial services.The Role & ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the CTO, you'll serve as the principal technical authority, owning architectural decisions across the full technology stack and ensuring the platform is built for performance, security, scalability and long-term growth.What We're Looking ForWe're looking for a technically strong, commercially aware architect with a proven track record of building complex financial technology platforms and the confidence to take complete ownership of their architecture.Experience & Technical Architecture: 12+ years in software engineering, including at least 4–5 years in a Technical Architect or senior technical leadership role. Strong expertise in Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, React, Nuxt.js, microservices, modular monoliths, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), clean architecture and REST APIs.Databases, Data & Infrastructure: Strong experience with PostgreSQL and MSSQL, database architecture, schema design, indexing, query optimisation, transaction management and Redis. Knowledge of Apache Kafka, event-driven architecture, WebSockets, real-time systems, Docker, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, container orchestration and cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including scalability, disaster recovery and FinOps.Blockchain, Crypto & Web3: Proven experience architecting or building fintech, crypto, payments, trading or digital asset platforms. Strong understanding of blockchain wallets, hot/cold/multi-signature custody, on-chain/off-chain transactions, transaction finality, gas fees, exchange APIs, crypto payment gateways, blockchain nodes, Web3 SDKs and multi-asset/multi-currency infrastructure.Security, Financial Integrity & Regulatory Compliance: Deep knowledge of JWT, OAuth2, WebAuthn/passkeys, OTP/2FA, RBAC, secrets management and OWASP security practices. Experience with financial ledgers, reconciliation, idempotency, fraud prevention, KYC/AML integrations (ideally Sumsub), audit trails, data residency and multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments. Exposure to DFSA, FSRA, VARA or equivalent licensing frameworks is highly desirable.Leadership & Additional Expertise: Proven ability to own end-to-end architecture, establish engineering standards, lead code and design reviews, mentor engineers, manage technical debt and make build-versus-buy and vendor decisions. Strong stakeholder management, documentation and incident leadership skills.
