CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER Job title: Chief Operating OfficerReports directly to: Chief Executive Officer

Company: Republic of Africa Location: Accra, Ghana, with a scope across Africa and its diasporaABOUT USWe are a Pan-African culture company that brings together people who believe in Africa.

Our fashion, lifestyle products and cultural experiences let them express that belief, with style. Our community of believers is passionate about contributing towards solving problems on the continent, and we facilitate this through the jobs we create and the impact projects we undertake. We started in 2013 as WEAR Ghana, with a simple aim: to get Ghana to wear Ghana. Our GIGI collection became a Ghanaian staple, turning ten this year. From day one we knew that our phase 2 would be something bigger: building a force that would transform lives across the continent and the global Black community. Last year we launched it: the Republic of Africa. No borders. One belief. Now we are changing how we work to build the Republic. Content is how we reach people, community is what we are building, and fashion, lifestyle and experiences are what we sell. That shift touches everything: our team, our production, how we sell and how we deliver. We need a Chief Operating Officer to build the systems that make our new model run every single day. This is a role for someone who wants to build, not maintain.ROLE PURPOSE Our strategy is clear. What we need now is an operating system that turns it into results, every day, in every market we serve. You will build that system. You will make sure our people know what is expected of them, our numbers are accurate and on time, our customers receive what they ordered, and our growth does not turn into chaos. You will work as the CEO's partner. She will spend more of her time on vision, brand, product and relationships. You will own execution.YOUR FIRST YEAR In your first twelve months, we will look to you to:Lead our restructure. Move us from a production-heavy team to one built around content, community and selling, with every role, reporting line and KPI clear.Get our selling engine running. That means our content studio, daily live selling with our hosts and influencers, and our online stores, with sales and customer data tracked across all of them.Give us financial clarity. Monthly management accounts, a working budget and cash-flow forecast, and costs we control.Make delivery reliable. Production planned against demand, accurate inventory, and on-time fulfilment across Ghana, ready for our next markets.Put the right systems in place. Choose an integrated system for finance, inventory, production and sales, and begin implementing it.Get us ready for investment. Clean numbers, an organised data room, and governance an investor can trust.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Restructure & OperationsTranslate the CEO's strategy into clear operational priorities, plans and measurable targets.Lead the move of our team and space from production towards content, community and selling, with care for the people affected.Lead the day-to-day operations of Republic of Africa and WEAR Ghana.Set up operating rhythms, dashboards and reporting, so every team knows where it stands.Find bottlenecks and build systems that make us simpler, faster and more reliable.Commerce & FulfilmentRun our sales channels as one business: our website, TikTok Shop, Instagram Shop, our Accra store and daily live selling.Build the systems behind live selling: scheduling, onboarding hosts and influencers, tracking commissions, allocating stock and reporting on performance.Plan production across two models: our in-house tailors, who make our hero collections, and partner factories across Ghana and the continent, who make our staples, drops and basics.Lead our warehousing rollout, starting across Ghana and then expanding to our international markets.Build supplier and logistics partnerships that improve cost, speed and reliability.Community, Experiences & ImpactRun our events and experiences as both community moments and sound businesses, with clear budgets and income from tickets and sponsorship.Build the operations behind A Tribe Called Believers: how members join, how access to our hero collections is earned, and how we stay in touch with them.Make sure our content and campaigns go out on schedule and connect to measurable results: customers, sales and community growth.Track our impact honestly, starting with the jobs we create, and build the systems for the impact projects we undertake.Finance, Systems & QualityLead finance and accounting across both companies.Strengthen budgeting, cash-flow management, management reporting and cost control.Make sure leadership has timely, accurate numbers for every decision.Lead our move to an integrated ERP system, with clear processes for financial, inventory, production and sales data.Work with our accountants and advisers to keep our controls strong and our compliance current.Maintain our ISO 9001:2015 systems, and make quality part of how we work every day, not a separate exercise.People & CultureLead HR across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, and engagement.Build a high-performance culture centred on accountability, collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.Develop managers and team members through coaching and structured performance management.Identify capability gaps and build the talent we need for our next stage of growth.Partnerships, Investment & GovernanceBuild and negotiate the operational partnerships we grow on: factories, suppliers, logistics, warehousing and sales platforms.Support the CEO on fundraising: prepare the business operationally and financially, and coordinate investor materials, data rooms and due diligence.Strengthen governance as we grow, and make sure management reporting supports effective Board oversight.Represent the company credibly at meetings, conferences and industry events, at home and abroad.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEYou will have succeeded when:the CEO spends more of her time on vision, brand, product, strategic relationships and growth;the business runs well without depending on the CEO for every decision;every team knows its priorities and KPIs, and delivers against them;revenue, profit and cash are on target, and accurate numbers are available whenever we need them;production and fulfilment are predictable, and customers receive their orders on time;and the company is structurally ready to scale across Africa and the diaspora, and to take on investment.REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCEYou should be as comfortable setting strategy as you are solving a problem on the shop floor. You should have:a strong record of turning complex or chaotic environments into efficient, repeatable systems;senior operations experience in a consumer, retail, e-commerce or creative business, ideally one that sells through content and community;strong commercial and financial understanding, including budgets, cash flow and management reporting;proven leadership, coaching and people-management capability;confidence with technology, automation and AI tools, and experience implementing ERP or business-management systems;strong negotiation, partnership-building and project-management skills;experience engaging Boards, investors and senior stakeholders within formal governance structures;an understanding of quality-management systems (experience with ISO 9001:2015 is a strong advantage);excellent communication skills, and the presence to represent an African company credibly anywhere in the world.THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FORBeyond qualifications, we are looking for a particular kind of person. You must be:Pan-African. You believe deeply in Africa's potential and understand the cultural, commercial and emotional significance of building African brands.A builder. You enjoy taking something with potential and turning it into something structured, scalable and excellent.Highly intelligent and solutions-driven. You do not merely identify problems. You solve them.Hungry. You are ambitious for yourself, the organisation and the impact we can create.People-centred. You genuinely like people and understand that strong businesses are built through strong teams.Values-driven. You have integrity, judgement and a strong personal sense of responsibility.Commercial. You understand that purpose must ultimately translate into a sustainable, profitable business.Globally minded. You are comfortable operating across cultures and markets.Obsessed with systems and improvement. You naturally ask: how can we make this simpler, faster, more reliable and repeatable?Fluent in culture and commerce. You understand fashion, and you understand that today, content and community shape what people buy. Most importantly, you must be able to show us that you love building and growing things: businesses, teams, systems, partnerships and opportunities.THE OPPORTUNITYThis is not a role for someone looking simply to manage an existing machine. We are looking for someone who wants to help build the machine. We will be honest with you. We are bootstrapped, and we are in the middle of real change. Some of what you inherit works beautifully. Some of it will need building from scratch. If that excites you rather than worries you, we should talk. You will be joining an African company with more than a decade of history, a strong sense of purpose and an ambition far larger than where we are today. The opportunity is to build the operating infrastructure behind a truly Pan-African culture company, and ultimately a brand capable of bringing Africa and its believers around the world closer together.HOW TO APPLYSend your CV and a one-page note to hr@wearghana.com by 13th November, 2026.
