Head of Hardware

Location: Shenzhen, ChinaAbout UsROGENT Machine is an early-stage startup focused on robotics, intelligent hardware, and next-generation engineering technologies.We are seeking a hands-on technical co-founder who enjoys building physical products, assembling hardware, sourcing components, and solving real-world engineering challenges.This role is ideal for someone who prefers building and experimenting over managing paperwork and wants to help create a robotics company from the ground up.ResponsibilitiesLead hardware prototyping, assembly, integration, and testing.Build and assemble mechanical structures, actuators, motors, controllers, and electronic systems.Source and evaluate hardware components, electronic parts, and manufacturing services.Coordinate with suppliers, CNC workshops, 3D printing providers, and manufacturing partners.Integrate embedded controllers, motor drivers, sensors, and power systems.Perform wiring, calibration, functional testing, and hardware troubleshooting.Work closely with the hardware R&D team to improve designs and prototype reliability.Establish assembly procedures, documentation, quality checks, and hardware testing processes.Develop and manage the local hardware supply chain.Help build the company's engineering operations and future prototyping team.RequirementsStrong hands-on experience in robotics, electronics, mechatronics, or hardware engineering.Ability to assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot complex hardware systems.Familiarity with motors, actuators, controllers, sensors, and embedded systems.Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.Experience with soldering, electrical testing, mechanical assembly, and prototyping tools.Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining, and mechanical fabrication.Practical knowledge of ESP32, STM32, Arduino, or similar development platforms is a plus.Strong initiative, problem-solving ability, and an entrepreneurial mindset.Willingness to take ownership and grow with an early-stage startup.Preferred QualificationsExperience building robots, automation systems, or intelligent hardware.Familiarity with Shenzhen's electronics markets and manufacturing ecosystem.Experience with CAN bus, servo motors, or robotic actuators.Ability to modify basic CAD models.Previous involvement in hardware startups, maker communities, or open-source robotics projects.What We OfferOpportunity to become a founding team member and co-founder.Equity participation, subject to mutual agreement.Significant ownership of hardware prototyping and engineering operations.Opportunity to establish the company's hardware laboratory and supply chain.Direct collaboration with the founding and engineering teams.Long-term opportunity to grow into a senior engineering or operations leadership role.We are looking for a true builder: someone who enjoys turning components into working machines and wants to create something meaningful.A prestigious degree or big-company background is not required.What matters most is what you can build, how you solve problems, and your commitment to the journey.Additional company and project details will be shared during the recruitment process.
