Title: Director of Operations

Location: Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX Opportunity Overview:A respected and growing Texas-based commercial general contractor is seeking a Director of Operations to lead and oversee operations for a key Central Texas market.

This is a high-impact executive leadership role reporting directly to a Regional Vice President and responsible for driving operational performance, project execution, team development, and strategic growth. The successful candidate will lead a team of Project Executives, General Superintendents, and project teams while partnering closely with Preconstruction and Business Development. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight for multiple large-scale construction projects and operational teams.Establish performance metrics and accountability measures to support operational excellence.Drive project execution, profitability, safety, quality, and schedule performance.Lead hiring, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.Mentor Project Executives, Superintendents, and emerging leaders throughout the organization.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry partners.Work closely with Business Development and Preconstruction teams on project pursuits and strategic growth initiatives.Review and improve operational procedures, workflows, and business processes.Monitor and forecast budgets, costs, staffing needs, and operational performance.Support proposal development, project planning, and strategic decision-making efforts.Promote a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, integrity, safety, and client satisfaction.Lead change management initiatives and organizational improvement efforts.

Job Requirements

Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.10+ years of progressive construction leadership and operations management experience.Experience managing multiple commercial construction projects ranging from approximately $80M-$250M+.Strong understanding of construction operations, project delivery, finance, budgeting, and organizational leadership.Proven ability to lead and develop teams across multiple projects and disciplines.Demonstrated success overseeing Project Executives, Superintendents, and construction management teams.Excellent communication, leadership, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational performance and project profitability.Ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.Experience overseeing large scale projects within one or more of the following sectors: K-12 Education, Higher Education, Hospitality / Hotel, Mid-Rise Construction, Healthcare / Medical Office Buildings, Municipal / Government, Aviation, Commercial ConstructionCandidates currently serving as a Project Executive for 6+ years with significant leadership responsibility or an established Director of Operations with a commercial general contractor are encouraged to apply.
