Legal Director

The Legal Director – The UAE Market is responsible for leading all legal affairs, regulatory compliance, and governance matters across GSM's operations in the UAE. This role serves as a strategic legal partner to the Board of Management and regional leadership, ensuring legal soundness, risk mitigation, and sustainable business growth in a highly regulated mobility environment.Legal Strategy & AdvisoryProvide strategic legal advice and consultation to the Board of Management and senior leadership on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to UAE operationsAnticipate legal risks and proactively propose solutions to support business expansion, market entry, and operational scalingRegulatory Compliance & GovernanceInterpret, draft, review, and evaluate UAE and local regulations, laws, policies, internal rules, and governance documents applicable to GSM’s businessEnsure full compliance with UAE regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to transportation, mobility services, labor law, data protection, competition law, ESG, and consumer protectionDesign, maintain, and monitor legal compliance checklists for each UAE marketContract & Legal Documentation ManagementOversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of commercial contracts, partnerships, vendor agreements, and operational legal documentsEnsure all contracts align with company strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory requirementsLegal Operations & Internal Capability BuildingLead and develop the UAE Legal team, setting clear standards, workflows, and performance expectationsUpdate legal documents and conduct legal training / awareness programs for employees to enhance legal compliance and risk awareness across the organizationAct as the central point of contact with external law firms, regulators, and authorities in UAE marketsRisk Management & Market MonitoringContinuously monitor regulatory changes and legal developments in UAE markets that may impact GSM’s operationsAssess legal risks related to new business models, products, or market expansion and provide mitigation strategiesRequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law10+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Legal Director / Head of Legal / Regional Legal Lead)Strong experience in UAE regulatory environments, preferably within mobility, transportation, ride-hailing, logistics, energy, or tech-enabled service industriesSolid expertise in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, commercial contracts, and risk managementProven ability to operate at Board and executive level, with strong business acumen and strategic mindset
