Mid-level Backend Engineer (Node.js & NestJS)

Job Description We are hiring a fully remote Mid-level Backend Engineer to build and maintain services on our Node.js and NestJS microservices platform, which communicates over RabbitMQ, runs in Docker, and serves web and mobile clients across Saudi Arabia and the GCC. You will ship features end to end within an existing architecture, grow toward owning services yourself, and use AI development tools as a normal part of your daily work. Job Requirements 2–4 years of professional backend development in Node.js and TypeScript, including at least 1 year of production work with NestJS. Working knowledge of microservices: how services communicate (HTTP, RabbitMQ), why boundaries matter, and the basics of handling failures and retries. Hands-on RabbitMQ experience: publishing and consuming messages, exchanges, queues and acknowledgements. Comfortable with Docker: writing Dockerfiles, running multi-service environments with Docker Compose, reading container logs. Confident, daily use of AI development tools is required: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor or GitHub Copilot, with the discipline to test and review what they produce. Solid SQL with PostgreSQL or MySQL and experience with an ORM (TypeORM or Prisma); basic MongoDB experience. Redis basics for caching and queues. REST API design and documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI; JWT-based authentication. Testing with Jest and Supertest. Git workflows, pull requests and CI/CD basics (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI). Clear written and spoken English; Arabic is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
