The Senior Geophysicist provides senior-level technical expertise across Business Development (BD) screening, Technical Feasibility Studies (TFS), Field Development and Abandonment Plans (FDAP/FDP), and Final Investment Decisions (FID). Operating as a commercially aware development geophysicist rather than a pure explorationist, this role integrates seismic, well, and geological data to build robust structural and depositional frameworks, execute advanced quantitative reservoir characterization, quantify subsurface uncertainties, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Subsurface, Wells, Facilities, Commercial) to drive technical and investment decisions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Business Development & Opportunity MaturationEvaluate farm-ins, asset acquisitions, bid rounds, and near-field/infrastructure-led opportunities by assessing 2D/3D seismic, well, and production data quality.Establish regional structural/stratigraphic frameworks, play concepts, and Low/Base/High subsurface cases with associated technical risks to support economic screening.Deliver data-room assessments, bid strategy inputs, work commitment scopes, and technical recommendations for bid/no-bid decisions.TFS, FDAP/FDP & Subsurface IntegrationLead geophysical deliverables for TFS and FDAP/FDP maturation, including integrating seismic horizons, fault interpretations, well markers, and velocity models to establish structurally consistent fault geometries, horizon surfaces, fault–horizon relationships, and reservoir compartmentalisation.Deliver depth structure maps, Gross Rock Volume (GRV) inputs, and alternative structural realisations to quantify uncertainty in static models and volumetric STOIIP/GIIP assessments.Building and validating depth-domain faulted structural frameworks for static reservoir modelling.Integrate seismic interpretations with Geology, Petrophysics, and Reservoir Engineering to optimize development concepts, well counts, appraisal/development well trajectories, and operational drilling support (including post-well reconciliations).Author geophysical sections of TFS/FDAP/FDP reports and represent the company in internal peer reviews, decision-gate assurances, and engagements with PETRONAS/MPM and partners.Advanced Geophysical Analysis, QI & Technical Assurance Seismic Attribute Analysis: Extract and interpret volume, horizon, and structural/stratigraphic attributes (e.g., coherence/variance, curvature, RMS amplitude, acoustic impedance, sweetness) to delineate subtle fault networks, fracture corridors, channel geometries, and reservoir heterogeneity.Spectral Decomposition: Apply frequency-domain decomposition techniques (e.g., Continuous Wavelet Transform, Short-Time Fourier Transform, RGB color blending) to resolve thin-bed tuning effects, map stratigraphic pinch-outs, and track high-resolution depositional fairways and geomorphology.AVO Analysis & Quantitative Interpretation (QI): Conduct rock physics modeling, fluid substitution, and synthetic gather generation to calibrate seismic responses to well logs. Perform pre-stack AVO analysis (intercept/gradient cross-plotting, fluid factor, EEI) and deterministic/stochastic seismic inversion to discriminate lithology, porosity, and hydrocarbon saturation from background brine trends.Processing QC & Assurance: Scope, tender, and supervise contractor seismic processing/reprocessing, velocity modeling, and time-to-depth conversion studies, ensuring rigorous technical assurance, version control, and auditability.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, or Applied Geology (Master’s preferred).Experience: Minimum 15 years in upstream oil and gas geophysics (preferably with an operator) spanning appraisal, field development, and producing assets.Track Record: Proven delivery of at least one integrated FDP/FDAP within the last 5 years, alongside demonstrated BD/data-room due diligence experience.Regulatory Knowledge: Working familiarity with PETRONAS/MPM upstream project maturation, resource classification, and regulatory approval processes is highly advantageous.
