Stadium Operations DirectorICP Modern Sport Search has partnered with a leading organisation within the sports and entertainment sector to appoint a Stadium Operations Director for a major UK venue.This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and event delivery of a large-scale stadium, ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency, safety, customer experience and commercial performance.The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in stadium, arena, major event or large-scale venue operations, with a proven ability to lead complex teams, manage multiple stakeholders and deliver exceptional experiences in high-pressure environments.The RoleAs Stadium Operations Director, you will take overall responsibility for the operational performance of the venue, ensuring the successful planning, coordination and delivery of events and day-to-day activities.You will lead and develop operational teams, establish effective processes and standards, and work closely with internal departments, external partners and key stakeholders to ensure the venue operates safely, efficiently and commercially.This is a highly visible leadership position requiring strong operational oversight, commercial judgement and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.Key responsibilitiesOversee all aspects of stadium operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and successful delivery of sporting fixtures, concerts and major events.Lead, develop and manage high-performing operational teams across multiple functions.Establish and maintain operational procedures, service standards and event-day processes.Coordinate event planning and delivery, ensuring effective collaboration between internal teams, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.Oversee venue readiness, including facilities, infrastructure, maintenance and operational resources.Ensure the highest standards of health and safety, security, crowd management and regulatory compliance.Manage operational budgets, resources and financial performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs.Work closely with commercial, hospitality, catering, facilities, security and event management teams.Build and maintain strong relationships with venue owners, event organisers, governing bodies, suppliers and other key partners.Lead operational improvement initiatives, introducing new processes, technologies and best practices.Use operational data, customer feedback and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.Provide visible, decisive leadership during major events, managing operational challenges and ensuring effective incident response.What we're looking forSignificant senior operational leadership experience within stadiums, arenas, major sports venues or large-scale event environments.Proven experience managing complex venue operations and delivering high-attendance events.Strong understanding of event-day operations, venue management, crowd safety and operational planning.Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including permanent, casual and contracted workforces.Demonstrable experience managing operational budgets and driving commercial and operational performance.Strong knowledge of health and safety, regulatory compliance, risk management and emergency planning.Experience overseeing facilities, infrastructure and operational service providers.Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at senior levels.Experience implementing operational improvements, managing change or supporting major venue developments.Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.A calm, confident and hands-on leadership style, particularly during high-pressure event delivery.Why this could be a good moveThis is an opportunity to take a senior leadership position within a major sports and entertainment environment, with genuine influence over venue operations, event delivery and long-term performance.The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping operational strategy, developing teams, improving the visitor experience and ensuring the venue continues to deliver events to the highest standards.It is a strong fit for an experienced venue operations leader looking to take ownership of a complex, high-profile operation.
